Jay 17679
I learned how to program in BASIC on an Apple IIE back in middle school and now I'm a software engineer today!
Pellaeon 406
Cool! Yeah, I’m looking forward to getting this bad boy up and running. A nice hobby to share with my son. Running games, of course, but I also want to get him into at least BASIC. Not to mention opening it up and swapping out cards and chips. A nice change from the iPad!

Pellaeon 406
My dad brought home a IIc in ’84 or ’85. Later, my brother and I bought a IIGS on money we earned from a paper route. It proved difficult to share, so, we also picked up a ][+. My dad traded in his IIc for a IIc Plus (which I never liked). This is my first //e, though of course every school had a lab full of them in those days.

Nick Parker 2840
I have so much romanticized nostalgia for that era of computers. Maybe it's wrong, but I always had the impression that computers in those times were much more oriented for creation by the consumer, whether that was programming, music, etc.
Pellaeon 406
Yeah, personal computing was a hobby for its own sake, first and foremost. There was much less gap between the power user and the regular user.
