John Williams Original Arrangements For The Boston Pops.

As one of the best arrangers in the business  why did JW do so few of the original arrangements for his Boston Pops albums?

I can only find a couple of arrangements JW did on the Jessye Norman album and Fiddler On The Roof, which is basically the entracte, end titles and main titles combined.

I believe he’s credited for some of the arrangements on the two Cinema Serenade albums (beyond his own compositions).  I know for sure he arranged the selection from The Color Purple by Quincy Jones.

I would imagine that one stung just a bit.

That's why he crafted a boring arrangement.
