John Williams Original Arrangements For The Boston Pops.

As one of the best arrangers in the business  why did JW do so few of the original arrangements for his Boston Pops albums?

 

I can only find a couple of arrangements JW did on the Jessye Norman album and Fiddler On The Roof, which is basically the entracte,end titles and main titles combined.

Too busy, perhaps? Or perhaps because the existing arrangements were good enough as they were?

I guess he would have done more arrangements if a day had more than 24 hours.

He also did the "Hooray for Hollywood" arrangement on the Salute to Hollywood album.  Any others come to mind besides what the OP mentioned?

I believe he’s credited for some of the arrangements on the two Cinema Serenade albums (beyond his own compositions).  I know for sure he arranged the selection from The Color Purple by Quincy Jones.

He did many more arranging for the Pops, but they were never recorded on disc. Some of them made their way into TV broadcasts though, like a couple of John Philip Sousa and Stephen Foster medleys.
