Pretty unimaginative choice if you ask me, but I'm not arsed either way.

When you look at the kid they got to play the lead in Dune, and the offbeat look they went for there, that's a much more inspired kind of casting for a big role IMO.

Hardy has a similar quality to Craig - both decent-looking men with a slight rough edge to them. I was looking forward to seeing Idris Elba but I think Hardy has a chance.

Until EON says it's so, then it ain't so.

Hardy's 43, likely at least 45 by the time his debut Bond would be released ... admittedly Moore was 45 on his debut, but the role's a lot more physical than it used to be. I doubt this story, but we'll see.

But the comparison or similarities end there. The biggest difference is that Craig is likeable, which is important for Bond. He needs to be able to get away with his 'rougher traits'.

Clickbait garbage. Every British rag comes out with a scoop about the next Bond or Doctor annually and they’re never right. The bullshit Christopher Nolan speculation just adds to the article’s odiousness. Hardy’s name has been tossed around for over a decade, along with Clive Owen and Idris Elba. I won’t believe a word until the next film is in development, which is likely years away.

Hardy is very handsome. You just never see him looking normal in most of his roles

Owen would have been a good choice.

Hardy is just as likeable, if not more.

Hardy would be an absolutely fuckall choice. Would make me instantly lose all interest in the franchise.

You , and the rest of this board, HATE EVERYTHING!

How very tiresome😒

He does tend to play the villain, but I think that's the range of his acting ability to take on those roles, and besides, villains are usually the more interesting characters.

I think given the right direction, story etc. he would make a great Bond and in five years time we'll be looking back thinking why JWFan hated the idea in the first place.

Isn't Tom Hardy on record as saying he's bisexual? That would be an interesting take on Mr Bond.

Mmm ... the 'What makes you think this is my first time?' line from Skyfall was far enough down that road for me, thanks very much. And even that could well be Bond referring to Le Chiffre tying him to a chair.

What about a transgender Bond?

"I used to be Jamie, but now you may call me James. James Bond." (or vice versa)

Casino Royale was my fav because I like Craig's character so much and the added atmosphere of the script and its setting. I watched Skyfall and didn't get it: Bond should've been hospitalized because he can't function and the script was confusing? Can someone who likes the movie explain. Maybe I need to rewatch.

Let's just say that when Barbara Broccoli said this back in January -

 - I breathed a large sigh of relief.

I didn't find Skyfall confusing at all (and I lose plots easily) but the story does fall apart logically if you think about it for 5 minutes.

It's a different beast to QoS, which is just flat out confusing. No idea what's going on in that one.

Car chase>horse race>chase/fight>fight>boat chase>opera>someone dies>chase>someone else dies>hotel fight>aeroplane chase>something to do with water>another hotel fight>"I never left">the end.

It's even simpler.

Bond chases villain. Villain chases Bond.

  • 2 years later...

I think Richard Madden would be great as the next bond, having seen him in Bodyguard. Also he’s young enough so he can play bond for like 15 years if that’s what the producers want. He’s well known but not as known as Hardy Elba Hiddleston Cavill etc.
