What's your favourite FSM release that's not a box set?

It's too bad none of the other labels have taken over the baton from FSM when it comes to releasing (lots of) golden age film scores.

Thank God they haven't!😝😁

The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (Moross)

I listened to this this morning and I really do love it.  Jerome Moross quickly became one of my favorite composers just in the past 6 months.

I recommend giving it a shot if you've never heard it:

Difficult question. Am I allowed to say EVERYTHING JOHN WILLIAMS? If you force me to pick one of the JW ones, I'll have to go with THE TOWERING INFERNO, I guess. It was so cool to own this when it went for top dollar. Alas, not anymore with the new release. But also THE POSEIDON ADVENTURE/CONRACK/THE PAPER CHASE which presented three unreleased scores all at once.

Beyond that, shout-outs to:

THE TAKING OF PELHAM 1-2-3. (it's an excellent score, but it also marked my start of the FSM magazine subscription. The first ever issue I got was when this had just been released, and featured on their main cover -- since then, I've acquired all the preceding issues, so I now have a complete FSM magazine collection -- there's some poetic justice in the fact that I have an article in their last-ever issue)

THE OMEGA MAN

THE FRENCH CONNECTIONs

ICE STATION ZEBRA

OUR MOTHER'S HOUSE

BIG WEDNESDAY

THE TIME MACHINE

The Bernstein box

GONE WITH THE WAVE

SOL MADRID

Miklos Rozsa Treasury

[Oops, guess I put a few sets in there that wasn't allowed. Oh well.]

Yeah, but that's the boring answer. ;)

My answer: Ron Goodwin's scores for war flicks.

The Bernstein box

Is this the re-recordings he did for his own label in the 70s?

Yes.

I could rank the Williams discs, but that will have to be tomorrow. I'm too drunk now.

But then it's more fun!

Fitzwilly at the top!

Fitzwilly was released by Varese (and Music. Box), not FSM
