Samples sound good but what did I expect.

OK, to come off the high: the booklet may be more appropriate for the slates than the track titles. I may have joined some cues. Interesting to start with the film version opening insert then the original take!

Not to be greedy or anything, but: where was this one recorded? Were the other 2 recorded there too? Can we expect 2 and 3 to come smoothly too even without them being Varese?

HOLY SHITBALLS HTTYD OFFICIAL COMPLETE

So awesome! Ordered immediately after seeing this thread (First purchase from the Varese's International shop as well). :)

Here's to hoping we'll get to see the sequels in an expanded form as well.

Couldn't sleep (It's 3am here in the downunderverse) and lost my shit when I saw this!!

Here's hoping the other two scores get a similar treatment (but from different labels obviously).

Dear Lord! Powell is on fire with these expansions! 🔥🔥🔥

Three John Powell expanded scores in less than three months. Considering that and The Call of the Wild, this is really the year for Powell fans.

I find it p. weird that the slate numbers would be in the track titles.  I know he promised it for Solo too - it makes more sense there because that release won't come with a booklet.  Outside of this message board, I've never seen people obsessed with those numbers (no diss, just haven't seen it).

Three different labels and three different studios. It's going to be interesting but I wouldn't be surprised see both of those out at some point.

Karol

My guess is they'll be digital/streaming - one's Sony, the other Backlot.

That deceased forum that worshipped the Japanese RPG game series had a thread only for reel/part numbers. Thanks to that I became an obsessed with these slate numbers, lol.

But I do agree it's weird of Powell putting these numbers on a commercial release.

Interesting too that there's only 2 alternates on the entire set - This Is Berk and The Viking Have Their Tea - and in both cases, the original and alternate are programmed to play back-to-back with each other

This may sound strange to hardcore collectors, but since I'm very sparing when it comes to these purchases this is actually the first time I've ordered as soon as I heard about a release. I am very, VERY excited!

Featuring detailed liner notes by film music journalist, Tim Greiving.

I hope Solo receives similar notes!

BTW - was this score recorded in LA or overseas?

Me too! The download should absolutely come with a digital booklet!

I guess it was recorded in London, much like the HTTYD sequels.

Makes sense if true - does anybody know for sure?

According to ScoringSessions.com, both sequel scores were recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London.

Quite a few of the demos are also alts

See You Tomorrow has a statement of Hiccup's theme not in the final.

Hiccup's theme

Which one's that? Is there a fan concensus thematic catalogue? Nvm ,it'll be overwritten by the booklet anyway.

Right, but I'm asking about this score, not the sequels!

Some of the demos popped up in the documentaries on the DVD.

Now THIS is one expansion worth doing!.*

I really hope it's remixed.

The ost had very mediocre sound.

This is an all-time classic and deserves a great showcase!

* too bad they continued the " collection of cues" practice.

Will probably keep the ost:(

Pretty sure this is how Powell wanted it presented.

If there were significantly more music in Chicken Run, I would probably jump on that

There is quite a bit not released, full cues, and inserts.

(Some early alternates in demos form too)

Funny you should say that..

HTTTYS 2 is the ONLY score I ever preordered- before the film was even released or I heard a note of music!

Glad they have an alternate cover.

The ost was seriously lacking.

I loved the FYC art. Too bad that wasn't used.

2CDs it seems.

Kickass! I would have joined some tracks but this preserves customiseability.

Yeah. It's going to take me a while to whittle out the short cues and reprogram it.

Fortunately, d2 looks good- no short cues

Even though I am not a Powell fan, just reading the premise of this thread made me smile because I knew how happy it must make you all. Have fun with the release!

I'm not a big fan either . which makes his towering achievement even more amazing; for me at least.

I may have to " employ" someone to make me a single disc customized cdr.

Any ' volunteers'?😉

The Varese website has 7 samples you can listen to and judge for yourself how different it sounds

 Nice to know.

Not sure if I can tell thru headphones as I only listen to the ost thru SPEAKERS.

I will be I curious to hear what fans of the score, like Erik Woods say.😊

Only with the INTRADA site samples.

They use some strange ' alien' technology. Probably created at Roswell.

😆

This is a great release!  I'm excited if finally happened.

I'm wondering if they will have the film version or the album version of Wounded included.  The album version has vocals past :40 that are not present on the film version.  I'm also really curious about the alternate The Vikings Have Their Tea.
