...and it's very much a generic FYC cover too! A quick Google of "HTTYD Soundtrack Custom Cover" brings up this lovely item as a starter...

Lots of fans have made interesting covers for the FYC, but there's only one cover the actual FYC was mailed out in

For sure, I just meant that the actual FYC artwork doesn't offer anything special (do they ever?!).

Not really no

At some point the academy made a rule that they were only allowed to put the film's logo on a solid background on the cover

That doesn't seem too surprising, don't want voters overwhelmed by overly pretty cover art ;-) Guess we should be lucky that so many talented and enterprising artists enjoy whipping up some splendid alternates for all manner of soundtracks.

Same... At least relevant to the first part of your post. ;)

Karol

My copy shipped as well. The postage wasn't too exorbitant to Finland either now that were are comparing them. ;)

Sorry.  I literally copied the text he put in quotes "HTTYD Soundtrack Custom Cover" into google, clicked Images, and there it was.  That was literally all there was to it.  I don't know why you couldn't find it >shrug<

You'd receive it quicker and have paid less for shipping if you ordered it from their international store instead of their US one

Okey thanks. It is my first time with Varèse so I wasn't aware of this. Thought it was like LLL with only one site.

The Varese international store is brand new, just launched a few months ago

Here's the announcement post:

There is also a FYC 3-disc version. The first two discs with the complete score and the third disc with the song. This is the version I own.

Here are the pictures:

In a HTTYD fan forum, a user explained that the two disc version is only a upcovert from mp3. Maybe from the FYC site. But it is possible that he bought a fake one. I don't know. But he claims the one disc version and the eventuelly the three disc version is lossless. I like this version, because of the absence of the song. On the newly released deluxe edition I would skip that track.

And in FSM one guy stated the FYC is not mixed to loud if you compared to the OST. Can anyone confirm this issue?

Anyway, here is the link where I got that info:

Here is the FYC I refer too.

According to the site it was for an eight track version. Taken from " Art of..." boom.

I love this art and would love a copy without the Oscar b.s.

Here's the full artwork and track listing of the release you're talking about

Concept art is often better.

I posted some WOTW art which would make nice covers!

HTTYD is poorly served by facsimiles of the film characters.

More abstract, artistic images are more fitting for such a great score and film.

Also, your second problem as shown in that image is that you wrapped your search terms in quote marks.  You don't want to do that.

I have both the FYC and the OST. The FYC is unmastered as far as I know. The OST is definitely louder, too loud in my opinion.

Varese's page says this is estimated to ship Oct. 16, but the international store doesn't have that notice.

Guess this is the one time the Americans are being forced to wait longer :P

NO! It makes my day every time I hear it!

Also, anyone else wondering how viable this international store is going to be after Brexit?

Seems that we're generally waiting two days for 1st class deliveries from Varese, although them dispatching later in the day might be a factor.

Not sure when the post arrives here, but I'm pretty sure I'll get it tomorrow.

I generally like what this guy did:

But decided to make it a bit less desaturated and apply the movie titles to it.
