  1. 1. What do you think is Williams composing now?

    • Another concerto
    • Arrangements of his existing music
    • New commissioned concert works
    • New commissioned "commercial" works
    • A new film score
    • Something big (a symphony, an opera)
    • Something else
    • Nothing. Retirement is too much damn fun

Home Alone 6

It'll be great if they ask him to score the Home Alone reboot for Disney +.

It's unfortunate, however, that the chance of that happen are tiny.

Who knows?

He's repeatedly said in interviews that he's composing something every day, even if it isn't a commissioned work. So we'll know in due time.

Don't we know for sure he's doing a violin concerto?

Beyond that, who knows.

That's ready! Can't wait to hear it. Wonder if there was any news about the work commissioned by the Vienna Phil.

I would not find this great.  Any reboot is going to fail to capture the charm of the first one and just be grating and annoying.

I 'd like him  to do some kind of Star Wars Symphony Suite totally reimagining the themes

That would be awesome. He could easily put a two hour symphony together with the music. Maybe something like the so called "Lord of the ring symphony" (which of course isn't really symphony).

Geez, man! That sounded like a cat walking up and down the piano keys!

Couldn't get into that, at all.

Give me a Strauss waltz, any day

He, he....I know what you mean. I remember when I first heard this and before that, "Conversations", I was so excited. FINALLY, Williams would do a concert piece for his main instrument, the first time ever, really (if you disregard the piano sonata that he did as a student and that none of us have heard). Imagine my surprise when it was so wildly dissonant at times. Few traces of the lyricism I had hoped for. To be fair, both of these pieces have grown on me over the last few years, but I'm still waiting for a lyrical JW piano piece -- let's say the piano version of "Elegy for Cello and Orchestra".

Uh. My reply got lost or I just did not press the submit button.

Thanks a lot for the link. I did not know that this piece exists at all.

Something like that I was thinking about.

To me that used to be the theme from Sabrina, to data my favourite piano and orchestra piece of John Williams, closely followed by the Theme from Jane Eyre.

Sure, easy to find in film music. But I would love to hear a concert piece.

Yeah, it's as if he thinks "OK, piano is my main instrument. Gotta make it as complex as possible!". Whereas he seems more free with other instruments.
