Pawel P. 738
Probably Joker will win, although The Hateful Eight didn't beat The Force Awakens, which was quite a surprise. Besides, the nomination itself is always a great honor.

Popular Post bruce marshall 1,306
JOKER is that rare , innovative, score that deserves the acclaim it received. That's what I ' love' about Shark: he is so open to new approaches to film scoring , unlike his hidebound comrades.;) Thor, Joni Wiljami and Jurassic Shark 1
Arpy 4,145
Joker is gonna win then everyone will forget about it immediately. Although, if TRoS doesn't win it will have a greater legacy regardless - that much is certain. Joni Wiljami and GerateWohl
bruce marshall 1,306
The score might not have longevity . Time will tell. I think it will last unlike something like SOCIAL NETWORK , which was excellent but abrasive. The FILM's legacy will be greater than ROS.
Dr. Rick 1,152
Congrats to JW for yet another Grammy nomination! Maybe since Joker hype has gone down due to time passed since the movie was released TROS will eek out a "W".

GerateWohl 4,278
The Joker soundtrack did almost during the whole film the opposite of what I would have expected and liked to have heard. And I don't mean that in a positive way. I mean, we are talking about a comic character here. The songs in opposite worked well in the film. Something more in style with the songs would have been better. This way it was just, hey, a story about a tortured soul turning into a weird psycho. So, let's underline that with uncomfortable atonal cello sounds. It is just like underlining every swear word in the story with a black marker. Just anoyingly overemphasising. That was my personal feeling. But anyone else seemed to be enchanted.

Pawel P. 738
Maybe there is something wrong with me, but I really appreciate the Joker, I like Ad Astra very much and I love TROS at the same time. In terms of composition, maturity, fantasy, orchestration, richness in melody and overall musical class, Williams music is the most outstanding among the five nominees. Popular Post Arpy 4,145
The Joker left no impression on me after seeing the film and I've never felt compelled to hear it again. It's a score that has no narrative structure, but instead fits the scenes and then expires its use beyond them. I don't enjoy using the term 'overrated', but this is one score I can safely say fits that category and has been heaped undeserved praise by organizations who don't give a fig about anything other than popular opinion. If I would have known by the time I was building my oppinion on the soundtrack that the composer is female probably I would have been more benevolent. Thor 7,384
AD ASTRA is one of Balfe's best efforts, even though it pales in comparison to Richter's material (and the Bach stuff). Incidentally, I've been thoroughly enjoying his HIS DARK MATERIALS albums recently -- my favourite of his, I think. So I disagree with the 'Balfe dismissal' that is so common in film music circles.
