Unexpected random encounters with the music of John Williams

The Gumdrop Fun Shop in Ellijay, GA (https://www.thegumdropfunshop.com/). Nice small town shopping area.

I was waiting out front for my wife while she was shopping, and in the middle of two children’s songs they played the OST track of The Raiders March.

I really did not expect to hear that. It was the only non-kids’ music I heard while I was there.

They probably thought it was kids' music, too.

It's not so much that Williams's music is used for this clip that's surprising, but rather what odd stuff accompanied by his music randomly pops up in my timeline:

Doesn't surprise me as JP is the definitive Dino theme (maybe the most definite animal/music association ever (besides sharks))

That's what I'm saying. I wasn't surprised by the music being used for the clip, I was surprised by the clip, and the surprise was accompanied by the Williams music.

A good example of how *useful* A.I. can be.

I hope nobody out there thinks the music needs an A.I. workover.

It could, separate element to make a better stereo mix etc.

I freaking love these videos!! The actors playing Brody and Vaughn look like they’re having a blast and the crowd interactions are so much fun. And of course the actual parade float looks stupidly awesome and very well put together.

Having just got to the end of Seinfeld (amazingly never watched it until now but loved it and hasn’t dated nearly as much as some of its contemporaries… cough… Friends) I loved the use of a heavily edited version of the Superman March in the pre-finale clip show.

Is that when they show him during the race with the buddy from school? I’ve only seen the finale once so I don’t talk the clips they played.

Oh yes I think it is. I had forgotten about this but said clip is part of the montage in the pre finale clip show. Makes sense given both the previous use and Jerry's Superman fascination (albeit one that doesn’t actually seem to come up much).

Not specifically Williams (yet?), but it turns out that famed Austrian pianist Rudolf Buchbinder is a fan of film scores:

Apparently he's going to do some social media posts where he plays some film stuff. Perhaps something by Williams will be included?

That moment when you're watching a video on a Batman comic book story arc from the 90s and suddenly the Raiders March appears (in synth version):

Here's a Kickstarter project I'm backing:

rtqDFwyN2o8=

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/paversongames/luthier

It's a board game (to be released in about a year) that has players building instruments for patrons. The game includes a number of different instruments and patrons (historical figures like composers, musicians, patrons of the arts, etc.), and as part of the crowdfunding community stuff, they've been asking backers to contribute suggestions for some extra instruments and patrons, and then to vote for their favourites from the resulting lists. The most voted for instruments and patrons will be included in the final game.

I've skipped the suggestion stages, but participated in the voting (they sent out Google Forms links with multiple choice questions for the instruments and patrons). The patrons were grouped into three categories: Performers, composers, noble patrons, and royal patrons. The list of composers included John Williams (and Danny Elfman - sadly no Goldsmith), so naturally I voted for him. Fingers pressed that he's popular enough among the target audience to make it into the game.

The funding campaign is still going for 6 more days, if anyone else is interested in backing it!

(The guy who posted that is a British comedian who also made a couple of point & click adventures. The comments on his original post mention how it's just the same "song" (not his word) over and over again in different styles, although curiously a) nobody mentions the name John Williams and b) the name of another commenter who *didn't* mention the music is Robert John Williams)

Well in this case it's accidentally excusable, it really is all based on the melody of the song.

He could also be talking to us from 1988!

Yeah, I noticed that might be the meaning after actually looking at the video.

Wrong choice. They clearly should have played this:

Or this...

Btw, can anyone identify which recording of the IM was used? The Berlin Philharmonic? That would be provocative!
