Interesting. But it doesn't denote the date of the soundtrack release, only the film's.

It turns out the release date of the soundtrack release was stated further down on the site:

"Zu dem film Metropolis" / Gottfried Huppertz mit grossem Orchester & Fritz Lang. On VOX-Schallplatten, Nr. 08386 and 8387, 12" and 10", respectively, 80rpm shellac, electric recording, February 1927. For Audio samples, visit here: Original Silent Films' Music on 78RPM Records.

It also turns out that Metropolis was not the first film with a soundtrack release. According to the link there were several earlier German films that got a soundtrack release, the earliest on the list being Das Weib des Pharao (Ernst Lubitsch, Germany, 14/03/1922).

Interesting, thanks for the info. Finding out what the first soundtrack album is, is somewhat of a rabbit hole to go down. Bliss' THINGS TO COME has only had that "vague honour" for several years without any extensive empirical data. Same as with the first sound film, really. THE JAZZ SINGER has the established historical role as the first sound film, but again one can argue for previous films (like DON JUAN), depending on one's definition of what a sound film is, and how the sound was implemented.
