Popular Post crumbs 14,305
Always figured Intrada was the natural fit for The Patriot, because any expansion requires a license from Hollywood Records (a subsidiary of Disney Music Group) for the OST music. For the unreleased film cues, Centropolis, Columbia and Mutual Film Company were the production studios, Sony the distributor. I know it's more nuanced than just looking at other releases but Centopolis approved expansions for Godzilla, Independence Day and recently Stargate. MFC productions expanded include Saving Private Ryan and The Relic. Columbia is now owned by Sony and I think the recent confusion around Sony closing their vaults was a misunderstanding. So Disney's ownership of Hollywood Records, and Sony's acquisition of Columbia, probably complicates things. Nixon is the only other JW OST with Hollywood Records, also not expanded. Popular Post crumbs 14,305
I'm sure LLL will have a Williams title or two lined up for this year, pending approvals. It seems like something was intended for Black Friday but wasn't approved in time. Damn COVID! But it's great that all 3 major expansion labels are being so active pursuing Williams titles. I can only imagine the mountain of paperwork that goes into each release. Raiders of the SoundtrArk, bollemanneke, Will and 1 other 3

I get the impression that any Star Wars expansions will need to be instigated by Williams and his team, rather than Disney Records pursuing the idea themselves. I'm sure it'll happen now that all 9 are finished. That was probably the milestone they were waiting to cross before tackling it. The annoying part is not knowing whether anything has been started, or how long a set that big would take to produce. 2-3 years? Especially if Mike is busy with concurrent projects. I know weird things have happened in the past but I can't see any reason for Disney to license Star Wars to a smaller label. Walt Disney Records is large enough to handle physical and digital releases themselves and retain all the profits. They'd want to make their money back from all those LA fees (5-6 hours worth, if they actually include all the early unused cues/alternates). Where will the concert suites be placed? What about the original '83 ROTJ songs and Ewok Celebration, both with multiple mixes? Have the lost ROTJ album sessions been found? Max Rebo? Will JW even allow source music? And the dozens of early alternates from TFA/TROS? How about 4 different versions of Luke's death in TLJ? What about the TFA trailer cues JW recorded? Will the TLJ recording of Main Title be reinstated? Popular Post Tom 4,640
I would love a remastered and complete Nixon. It is William's tragic opera, and a very good one at that--some cues touch upon masterpiece status. ROTS is in the ballpark, but it is more a hybrid of tragic opera and action, while Nixon is more pure. Bayesian, BrotherSound and crumbs
