I do like that they're completely non-smoking now ... the 'non-smoking' section back in the day was a joke, because astonishingly the smoke had the ability to drift across! Whoda thunk it?

But at least he's now collaborating with other well establish composers. Thomas Newman was the first, then Alan Silvestri and now David Newman (West Side Story).

Who'll be next?

Problem is, no one is offering Williams movies that aren't Star Wars or Spielberg.

Let's make a documentary about JWfan and ask JW to score it!

There are epic fight scenes to score!

I proudly hold Bridge of Spies in higher esteem then both Jurassic Park and Raiders.  Amazing near flawless movie.  Great score too!

Bridge of Spies is everything wrong with Spielberg today. Making absolutely predictable, tamed, movies. I missed edgy Spielberg, the guy that made Saving Private Ryan.

Yeah. Every time I watch one of Spielberg's films from the past 10 years I keep expecting "Directed by Ron Howard" to pop up at the end.

You can't expect someone with this luxurious lifestyle to make edgy movies. It's clear he lost the eye of the tiger.

LINCOLN was kinda brave.

A movie set during the Civil War consisting of nothing but people talking. Not about sex, but fundamental principles of society.

And, it was a big hit

I wonder if JW gets invited to boat parties.

Yes but he has to wear a mask before boarding.

Wait! Spielberg's got a bigger boat?!

So very tired and predictable.

And Munich. That was his last truly great film, IMO. The criticism he faced making that film changed him, and he's been "safe grandpa Spielberg" ever since.

All these dull courtroom dramas might be technically competent but they're a frustrating waste of his talent. You get the feeling he has no interest in stretching himself creatively anymore. The rot set in with KOCS.

Why? Because it didn't follow the books slavishly?

The only Spielberg that I didn't fancy much in the past years are The BFG and Bridge of Spies. The more recent are perhaps not his best but they are still very good.

One can't always be at his best.

Well I own a boat and I wouldn't allow any of you lot on it. Though I might consider taking some of you for ballast. But you're on board my vessel, mate, master, pilot and I'm captain.

Composer of film John Williams and Bloodboal are welcome on board as guests anytime though. No Ron Howard.
