What's the last vinyl you played?

My dad gave me a turntable about 2 years ago, but I've yet to plug it in (due to various cirumstances). I also got some 100 LPs from his huge collection - some of which were actually my own from way back when - that I look forward to playing once the turntable is up and running. Most likely, I'll have to move to a new apartment first.

Question for those who buy NEW releases.

Are they better quality than old Lps?

They advertise them as " 180gram ..".

Whatever that means.

I can't play vinyls anymore, my cat ate the needle a few years ago. I would have to buy another one.

Another cat?

Could you imagine anyone putting out a cover like that today?!

I bought the CD also but the LP sounded better so I sold it

Not my actual cat. But it was a cheap needle, the next I'll buy will be better.

When we moved when I was a kid, after my father died in 1984, I kept his LPs. No John Williams in his collection, I can't say he was a score lover, but there were two!

Oh wait, no John Williams, that's not totally true... ;)

Yesterday. Still sounding as it did in 1985.

That's a decent beginning to his solo career. It needs to be partnered, with BRING ON THE NIGHT as a companion-piece.

THE SOUL CAGES is his indisputable masterpiece.

It's the weight of the record.

I know but how does it improve the sound other than the weight prevents warping?

Excerpts on The Delicate Sound of Thunder, 5 years ago when we were selling my grandparents' house and picked some vinyls from the small collection to sell off used for at least some pennies. We left the rest and the player.

There are cheap and softer vynils, you only have to watch them and they scratch. Heavier ones are more resistant. But each playing will wear the record anyway, maybe a bit less.

It's a fact that each time you listen to a vynil, you damage it. Personally, I passed to another thing long time ago!

Theoretically. The heaviness of the vinyl allows for a "depper" pressing, thus, there is more information, on the record.

I want something that won't skip, pop,  or have surface noises.

Is that asking too much?😒

Listen to FLACs.

I mean transfer your LPs on FLACs if you really love the sound, and it will keep your records not too used.

Static electricity is my biggest hassle.

I used to have a gun that was supposed to eliminate it.

Here's the thing:

Even if analog  vinyl sounds better than digital CDs, any gain in sound quality is lost with all the degradation.

It's just too much hassle to maintain them, also.

Same goes for 35mm film versus digital cinematography and projection.

Hahaha, I have the same with film, but apparently people love all the side effects of celluloid.

Did anybody think these are actual THE BEATLES albums?

Be honest. They're pretty good copies of the originals😅

An obscure group of limited ability who recorded one great song " Dream Sequence"!

More surface noise than a dinner party at Drax home.

More pops than a Thor lecture( don't ask me what that means).

Edit: just found a reasonably priced copy of Kritzerland CD on Discogs!😄
