michael_grig 472
Is there any information yet if or when John Williams has started/will start working on this and when the music will be recorded? (Sorry if it has already occurred here, have not read through).
Jay 37,359
It is expected JW will write and record The Fabelmans score starting sometime late this year or early next year, finishing up his duties to that film before his big Carnegie Hall night in April 2022, then write and record the Indiana Jones 5 score after Carnegie Hall, before that film opens in July 2022 Cerebral Cortex and Brando 1
Naïve Old Fart 9,527
Really, Jay? He scored RAIDERS... in April, so he must have composed it in February to March. Is April enough time for a final mix?

crumbs 14,314
I don't have a Twitter account but it could be worth asking Mangold on Twitter that exact question. I suspect JW will watch the first cut whenever it's ready early next year. April seems a bit late IMO, but they were also delayed 3 months due to Ford's injury. Can he really write and record an Indiana Jones score in only 3 months at his age?
Edmilson 7,441
Yeah, someone should ask Mangold. He seems to be quite open and accessible on Twitter, I'm sure he'd have no problem answering that question.
Darth Mulder 154
I suppose that The Fabelmans will have a premiere in autumn 2022. It's classic movie for Oscar season.
mrbellamy 6,286
If he starts Fabelmans this year I doubt it'd take him all the way until April. Depending how much music is needed he could conceivably have that done before he even turns 90. Mangold and Spielberg may also have a plan like when Abrams blocked out time during TFA for Williams to do Bridge of Spies. Obviously that didn't work out but he could start Indy end of this year then take some weeks off. And yeah depends when Fabelmans is coming out, if it's well after Indy's release (unlike when BoS needed to be done before TFA) maybe Spielberg can be more flexible and wait it out. Popular Post Jay 37,359
It's not confirmed. But of course he's who Spielberg wants to score it. Docteur Qui 1,544
Let's hope there's a little less leaning on temp tracks like in TLJ, as good a score as it is. Though I guess one can hardly blame JW for sticking so close to temps considering his age and the length of that film.
crumbs 14,314
I might ask Mangold if he'll temp the film with existing Indy music. Brando
Popular Post igger6 894
Urge him not to. Rian Johnson's fanboy love for Williams was endearing, but I think it inadvertently led to a less creatively fertile score than we might have gotten without the Williams temp track. Not Mr. Big 4,639
I don't see Mangold doing a legacy music-only temp-track thing like TLJ. As long as it's not existing film music (including JW's own) - that's where the harm of it comes in. igger6, Not Mr. Big and crumbs
