What's the missed soundtrack purchase that you regret the most?

Recommended Posts

I regret not purchasing the McNeely recording of "North by Northwest".

And I didn't manage to buy any edition of Williams' "Midway" score.

But at least these are available on Spotify.

And probably I would have liked to get the expansion of "The Fury".

So, I have to live with the OST.

Williams' harp concerto, the clarinet concerto and the horn concerto I would like to have as well. But that is not really soundtrack.

Apart from that I am quite satisfied with what I have.

No, I forgot to mention Williams' "Images".

The horn concerto (at least) is available for lossless download from chandos.

Oh right, that is one I do regret every time I remember it.

They've only announced a vinyl edition but I can't imagine a world where they don't release a CD version after - and then a digital/streaming after that

This would indeed be really sad but it still can happen like for Black Panther, Ant-Man and the Wasp (even if it's Disney here so that's less surprising)

Yea, you're talking about OST albums Disney Records own the right to, completely different from Varese's Club line

I think regrets "purchasing" that one

Yeah, the minimal sound improvement and the minimal amount of new music didn't justify the upgrade. The 45 day limitation made me buy it.

It's great. Those percussions!

I thought you loved everything by Goldsmith.

The Matrix: Deluxe Edition

Huh, I was just planning to put my spare copy up on eBay. What do you reckon it's worth?

You're right.

You mean you love the man but not necessarily his music?

I would like to have purchased the Bernard Herrmann box set Varese put out several years ago.  That was a fast sellout, as I recall, and I didn't make it in time.  I bought several of the scores that were released later by Kritzerland, but still, that set would have been a very nice addition to my collection.

While I think it’s almost certain the Matrix gets a CD release, it’s worth noting Mission Impossible 2 got a deluxe release that appears to only be vinyl.

Yup same with Ant-man and the Wasp

In both cases though, it's a temporary license from the rights holders to Mondo

In The Matrix's case, Varese holds the perpetuity rights to the title.  So it's still a different situation.

Indeed!

I would LOOOOOOOOOOVE for LLL to be able to issue THAT program (with bonus tracks not there) on CD!

Is there yet more material not on the vinyl that remains unreleased for Batman? I have the LLL and it's a brilliant release, but would be nice to have extra music for the first score eventually.

Yet more beyond what's on the vinyl?  Not that we know of, I just meant that the vinyl didn't have all the bonus tracks the current CD edition does.  It's just a main program.

Intrada's White Fang.

It sell out quicker than I expected.

Iirc it didn't sell out. It was discontinued due to low sales, like YOUNG.GUNS II.

Both are great

Jaws (2CD) Intrada

I'm gonna be forced to get the fucking version without all the alternates when it comes back in stock.

There is a copy for $40 at FSM on sale by my friend Brad Wills.

Then it sold out without pressing the maximum allowed number of copies. I don't think they discontinued it and throw hundreds of leftover albums in the bin. ;)
