Andy 4,089
It's been a while since I played my Prometheus copy. Admittedly, it's not a score that's in heavy rotation for me, but it is compelling for sure. A remaster is a good excuse to take another listen, so I preordered it from Screen Archives. QuartalHarmony 542
Well, for those of us in the UK, there's minimal difference between shipped prices from Spain on Quartet compared to coming from the US via Intrada. That's Brexit for you: posting something less than 30 miles from Calais to Dover can cost as much as getting it from Australia. Ridiculous. Thankfully, I have friends in Madrid who can help, so that saves 12 Euros on postage! Mark

Please, when time comes, remember me to not triple dip in this please. I always forget how awful Yamas'tas' grunts are. The lyrical music is great but the grunts i really get embarrassed thinking what the neighbours will think when I play it in the hi-fi sistem... :/ I mean... it's not going to get a lot of playing here... even if a complete score is released... Yes the sound quality is much improved compared to the LP transfer done for the Prometheus records release. No more of those audible LP crackles heard in the background of that release. Definitely the main reason for me to purchase this score again (apart from the singular and excellent score itself of course). Jon Burlingame returns to write the liner notes which are again very informative and even offer that same sort of broad track-by-track commentary that was present in the previous notes for the Prometheus release. John Williams' original liner notes are as erudite as one would come to expect from the Maestro and detail briefly how he came involved with the film, his ideas about the score, the Baschet sculptures as instruments, and his collaboration with Stomu Yamash'ta. Karol The score strikes an excellent balance between the tonal lyrical and the strange experimental avant garde, in essence illustrating the fracturing mind, sanity and madness in a very effective way. And I appreciate the acoustic nature of the experimental side where no synthesizers are used to create the strange sounds but rather the Baschet sculptures, which lends these avant garde passages a more visceral feel. In terms of functionality, tech and design even in 2019 it felt like it was several generations behind. But it has got 256GB storage and is very small. I hate listening to music on ny phone. I removed almost everything else from it and the battery lasts about 4 days on a single charge. I've still got a 2009 iPod which works just fine. They still replace batteries for both anyway. Jay 37,319
I used to love love love love love my iPod. I never even went for the Touch model, I stuck with the classic one with the tiny screen and circle wheel control. I used to love having that full of film scores and my phone being a separate thing. But as the years went on that all changed. Phones just got better and better and better at playing music. It got to be annoying to always be carrying around 2 devices when 1 did literally everything the other was doing. Now I use my phone to play music literally every day of my life and can't see what benefits having a separate device has any more Yavar Moradi

Popular Post crlbrg 381
Just finished listening to this score, and know I can understand the hype. I enjoyed it so much that I just feel like I have to write a substantial post about this (which is a first for me)! In Search of Unicorns: I find the contrasts between the piano/string music and the percussion to be very effective. I wonder how it plays out in the film. The House: This track in particular really made me appreciate the sound quality on this release - thanks MM! Dogs, Ponies and Old Ruins: Damnnnn, that lute! Visitations: I wonder how the grunts and groans from Yamash'ta translate in the film. Found them a bit off-putting, but definitely creepy! Reflections: I love this track! The tremolando/sul pont strings reminds me of the Dementor music from HP3 [The Dementors Converge] The Killing of Marcel: That's some creepy music. Questions again about how the shouts, etc. fit in with the picture. The Love Montage: True to Burlingame's comments, that has to be the weirdest JW love montage music I've ever heard, to the point where it doesn't sound like love scene music anymore. Blood Moon: An entire cue of JW flexing Land of the Ums: Another amazing feast for the ears with all the unique, unearthly sounds. I wonder what JW and Yamash'ta would have come up with if they had access to all the Baschet instruments... The Night Witch Ride: Found the intense breathing to be very effective in adding tension. Also liked the pizzicato passages - for what I assume to be a running sequence? These passages are SO similar to the transition before "Chasing Scabbers" in the Witches, Wands and Wizards arrangement! The Waterfall and The Final Chapter: That theme is so haunting, and I absolutely adore the high string writing around around the them [I wonder what the two string notes at 2:27 correspond to in the film] In the liner notes Williams lists Edgar Varese as one of the main influences for this score - I also hear a lot of Penderecki. Speaking of liner notes: my love of liner notes increased a hundredfold during this listening session. Might be due to the fact that I haven't watched the film, but I think Jon Burlingame did a wonderful job. I wonder if the film is worth watching, even if only to identify where some changes in cues occur in tracks, etc. So, to sum up, thank you all for hyping me up for this release - it was definitely worth! ragoz350, Yavar Moradi, Jurassic Shark and 5 others 7

Taikomochi 1,136
Images is probably the most capital-A Art film Williams ever scored. Even in Altman’s filmography, it’s a pretty strange entry. Recommended for that aspect alone.
