Stars Wars is not the benchmark for an orchestra.

But Star Wars was a benchmark in the genesis of JW's oevre, leading to a renaisance of full orchestral film music.

And now John Williams will conduct the Filarmoni Scala in Milano, June 19, 2022! Marvelous...

The Williams collaboration was one of the most important historical events involving the LSO and Star Wars in particular without doubt is their "business card" music. As of recently (2018 Dirk Brosse concerts) their ability to perform it was in a very good shape.

June 22 is long time to go. I would prefer Berlin because its just in one week so its sure that it will happen and you have a way better orchestra.

I'm so excited because of the orchestra too, especially the string section. If I recall what Karajan got out of them, I'm 100% sure we're in for something great.

They seem to be in excellent condition:

The Berlin Philharmonic are always in excellent condition ;) The best piece in the set List is the Elegy for Cello and Orchestra :beerchug:

Someone better warn JW, he's not allowed to attend!

JW need no mask. Maybe he must wear a mask for entering the stage. But he will conduct without mask. The orchestra members will also wear no mask.

October and we still need masks. Feeling sorry for everyone attending.

main reason for that is that they use all seats. There have been concerts with just every second seat sold where you could take off your mask while sitting.

for all who are attending the concert: maybe it has been posted before but the rules/information keep changing from time to time. So make sure you've had a look (tests, masks, etc.)

Thanks!

Noted that it has to be an FFP2 mask (currently nothing else allowed).

I'll be travelling to Berlin earlier, will be able to make it for the rehearsal.  Do I need a ticket to get in?  Is it still available?

Yes: https://www.berliner-philharmoniker.de/education/projekte/john-williams/

Follow the yellow buttons and select your seat on the map. They will also check your age (16-28 year old).

I'll be flying in to Berlin tomorrow.  There's still tickets available, maybe they'll make a last minute exception to fill in the seats, you never know!  Just try your luck that day!

Williams should be in Berlin by now I think. Did someone spotted him strolling around Checkpoint Charlie or Brandenburger Tor already😅?

Really, already? I think he will come on Monday or Tuesday. And I don't think he's going sightseeing either, at least not to such points and not without Anne-Sophie:D, with her he might just go to some music archive similar to Vienna, or the instrument museum we have in Berlin.

I think he will not fly with a private Charter. I think he will fly first or business class in a normal flight from New York. He should arrive on the weekend i think. Maybe on Sunday...

The final rehearsal is Wednesday. I think they start with rehearsals on Monday or Tuesday. Considering his age, jetlag and conducting 3 concerts it would be wise to be there by now.
