The local radio station said that the God of filmmusic had arrived.

That reminded me of the Vienna press-wording "Besuch vom lieben Gott".

You hear that, HZ? The God of film music.

The GOD of film music!

Probably due to timing issues and flubs...

That major Jurassic Park BPO timp flub is even worse than the VPO timp coming too soon at the end of E.T..

This is so great! What an interview. As always, it's so amazing that Maurizio and Tim are doing this.

WATCH THIS SPACE! OH GOD! OH GOD! COULD IT BE? No DG?

So Berlin are no sight readers either. That's the VPO argument taken care of.

This excellent interview was possibly done before we other nerds contacted the BPO (Recordings) help desk re a physical release...?

Sarah's "fingers crossed" make me think...

Dear Santa...please!

Thanks again Maurizio and Tim (and Sarah) for this very entertaining and enlightening interview! :)

I was a bit confused about her comment about the E.T. horn part not having the "Bells up!" in it, as I remember it being in the Signature edition score - turns out, while it's in the "Adventures on Earth" S.E., it's missing in the otherwise identical ending in the "Flying Theme" S.E. (which was performed in Berlin)...

Response to enquiry at DG whether there is a possibility for DG to publish "John Williams in Berlin":

"Zum jetzigen Zeitpunkt können wir Ihnen da noch keine verbindliche Antwort geben."

"At the moment we cannot give you a binding answer."

So - watch this space and fingers crossed...

while her story about Yuri Gagarin attending the Star Wars screening at the American embassy in Moscow is hilarious – it can't be true, since Gagarin died in 1968. :-/

Exactly. I wondered the same. Must be some another cosmonaut.

Or, the film was 2001 space oddisey.

That's what I thought at first, but the anecdote doesn't make sense with 2001, because there's no war in space in that story.

Anyway, brilliant interview (as usual). Sarah Willis' excitement is palpable, and it's always fun to see the professionals geeking out just as much as we fans do.

2001 contains some music by Richard Strauss whose father was a French horn player.

So there's a link.

It all goes back to Beethoven, anyway. ;-)

So she just got her Astronauts mixed up ;)

Perhaps nobody knew who Leonow was whenever she told the story, and she simplified it so she wouldn't have to explain over and over again. :-p

I had a hunch that guy was Leonov, because of his associations with space art

Has anyone figured out the best way to join all the digital concert hall videos? I've found one instance where the applause at the end of one track is clearly the first five seconds of the opening of the next track, but this doesn't seem to be a recurring pattern. Every time I try to do crossfades, it never sounds smooth either.

What is that?

Says 4th February 2022. Deutsche Grammophone. 4 Discs. Not sure what it is.

A title as vague as "The Berlin Concert, duuuh" looks like a JWFan description

Nice to see them aiming for JW's 90th birthsday!

YES!! I figure the concert on 4K Blu-Ray, regular Blu-Ray with possible bonus interviews included, and two CDs for the concert in audio form.

It’ll be four versions of the album:

> standard version

> deluxe version

> standard version “live edition”

> deluxe version “live edition”

Bonus features: collectible postcards and good embossed packaging!

:P
