  1. 1. Which version is better

    • Yes, Michael Giacchino's version is absolutely the clear winner here

    • No, I don't think John Williams' film soundtrack in any way outshines the soundtrack to the PS1/Saturn game.

As much as I like Gia and his TLW score, but it obviously can't compare to Williams' masterpiece.

I think a better poll would be "what is the best Jurassic score by Giacchino: The Lost World videogame, JW or JWFK".

Remember how the PS1 disc doubled as an audio CD?

I do! Those were fun times. I mostly just listened to the music because the game was not fun for me at all.

As Jurassic Shark said, both poll options are saying that the video game score is superior.

Huh, strange. Anyway, lets get those votes in everyone!

Which one did it better?

So...I really like the Giacchino game score. In fact I'd say I might like it better than either of his two later big budget Jurassic World film scores! But seeing as how The Lost World is on my John Williams top 20, sorry I just don't think Giacchino can compete, so I won't be voting for either of your funny options. ;)

I'm one of those who actually prefers The Lost World score to Jurassic Park, despite the great and iconic themes in the latter. Maybe because it's so Goldsmithian in its action rhythms and how linear it is (that's also why I adore Black Sunday).

Medal of Honor is SO much better than Saving Private Ryan.

I love Up but can't agree with you there. (But maybe you weren't being serious.)

However, I seem to recall that at the time many film music fans were underwhelmed by Saving Private Ryan (aside from perhaps Hymn for the Fallen, which itself I've never really liked either!) while being blown away by the original Medal of Honor, heralding Giacchino as the new John Williams (which I never considered him to be).

I think SPR is completely unworthy of inclusion among John top 15. But I am a huge non fan of MG. I do like the UP score.

Agreed. But also...

Saving Private Ryan by John Williams is an okay (or fine "very good" if you're a fan...I'm not) film score.

Medal of Honor by Michael Giacchino is one of the greatest video game scores of all time.
