We’re breaking down the most-collected Disney albums on Discogs. The ranking is determined by how many Discogs users added a Master Release under the Disney brand to their Collection. Nowadays, Disney owns and operates several franchises — Pixar, Star Wars, Marvel, The Muppets, Indiana Jones, and Pirates of the Caribbean, to name a few — so the resulting roundup features a wide variety of titles and series.

Guardians is collected more than the original Star Wars album?? Good lord. On the other hand, it is neat to see TFA ranking so highly on this list.

The songtrack, which is a bit of a cheat.

Looked this up on Spotify. Interesting! Just the fact that so many of the conventions of the last 44 years are not followed here. The Main Title IS just the Main Title. The End Title is different than any concert rendition I've ever heard. AND it ends with the film version of the ending rather than the concert / Return of the Jedi ending. I'm listening to Imperial Attack right now. Seriously give this a spin!

I wonder if this is only here because of confusion about the London Symphony vs. London Philharmonic. It’s a rather—umm—unique recording.

I've never heard of this album before!

I’ve heard it was rushed out quickly because stores simply could not keep the LSO double LP in stock for a long time. I think they were even forced to change the cover so it wouldn’t be mistaken for the original.

Here’s a truly random fact: the conductor of this recording played the ocarina solo on The Troggs’ 1966 hit ‘Wild Thing’.

I'm not familiar with this album conducted by Colin Frechter. Could anybody shed some light on it?

EDIT: Jayz beat me to it.

I listened to it the other day and I bounced from "Wow, that's an interesting choice, that's kinda cool" to "Arrgh, WHAT were you thinking?" On the one hand they make orchestration and temp choices that seem driven completely by the music rather than what might have been on screen which can be really neat. But then there's Tie Fighter Attack. Arrrrgh. It's like Star Wars played by someone who had never heard of Star Wars (which is probably not inaccurate).
