For 2012, my own pick is firmly in line with the "consensus". It's Danna's LIFE OF PI all the way.

But there were other good ones: DANS LA MAISON, MANIAC, BRAVE, KATMANDU, TALE OF A FOREST, PUSHER, UNMEI NO HITO, THE LITTLE WIZARD, PROMETHEUS, 30 COULEUR, 90 MINUTTER, LINCOLN, THE IMPOSSIBLE, ISABEL, SALMON FISHING IN YEMEN, SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK, PROMISED LAND, DARK SHADOWS, BEASTS OF THE SOUTHERN WILD, SPRING BREAKERS, SUMMER IN FEBRUARY, A LATE QUARTET, BAZTAN, 30 I FEBRUARI, BIANCANIEVES, PEOPLE LIKE US....just to mention some.

I admit I haven't heard the Danna. But Lincoln is an excellent Williams score, one of his most luxurious.

Do you listen to it ensconced in velvet?

I picked John Carter.

Lincoln is the best music of the bunch.

But I retain my belief it is not a great score. The score does not make its presence felt in the movie at all.

If you just watched the movie, you might not come away thinking it has a great score. A good score, but not great. On album, Lincoln’s music is masterpiece level.

John Carter is a magnificent score. It is Gia’s chance to write a big old fashioned balls out thematic score and he delivers in spades.

His score is also brilliant IN THE FILM.

Voted Lincoln, which I think is fine.  Kind of a By Default vote though.  I don’t know if I really know any other scores from 2012 very well.  Maybe when Jay gets in here with his list it will spark my memory!

Yeah, but I hadn’t heard most of em and haven’t even heard of many of the movies!  I do like Lincoln better than Elfman’s offerings on your list, at least.  But Hobbit AUJ seems like tops for me.

My vote went finally to Mychael Danna.

The Life of Pi, is like his "Lord of the Ring", all proportions kept.
