I sometimes see figures such as "4 millions of Star Wars OST albums sold", "30 millions of albums of Titanic sold", or about Morricone's total being over 60 million...

 

And I wonder what do we know about JW's total sales figure.

It's not Britney Spears, but JW is definitely among the film music album best seller in the world.

The soundtrack from The Phantom Menace itself has sold over 1.5 million copies. But probably more, because only some countries are listed here.

If I had to guess, I'd say probably around 100 million... Every score, every special edition, every JW&BPO album, etc. included.

In the 70s, STAR WARS sold 3 million units, making it 6 million records.

CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND, SUPERMAN, and E.T. were all big sellers.

Offhand, I'd estimate that his entire sales are in the region of 40-50 million. It's  not The Beatles, but it's damn respectable.

Now, if you add to that the fact that his music is heard on videos, D.V.D.s, and Blu Rays, that number could easily be tripled.
