The great concert under the stars for the city of Milan and for Italy has never stopped and in 2022 it returns with a legendary interpreter. As one of the best known composers in US history it is not difficult to remember John Williams like John Philip Sousa, Aaron Copland or Leonard Bernstein. The career of success and recognition includes a conspicuous list of awards including five Academy Awards, numerous gold and platinum records. With two Emmy wins, three Golden Globe wins, twenty-five Grammys, Williams is arguably one of the most respected film composers, author of iconic scores that have become famous thanks to titles such as Star Wars, Harry Potter, Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park and many more. Popular Post Jay 38,847
I was fully expecting him to do nothing but write and record Indiana Jones 5 in between Carnegie Hall (April 21) and that film's opening (July 29). A trip to Italy in June is shocking to me! I wonder if the main score will be done recording before he leaves, and then maybe a final pickup day will happen after the concert? Or if an announcement that IJ5 is being delayed is forthcoming? Madmartigan JC, Chewy and Will

Timo Martikainen 127
Concerto per Milano has typically been an outdoor event but this one seems to be in Teatro alla Scala. Annual event has been having even 50 000 person audiences so I wouldn't be surprised if the location isn't correct (hall has only 2000 person capacity). crlbrg 382
This guy insists on doing even more as he gets older! What an inspiration. I'll do my best to be there - my only wish would be that there's some of his concert works included in the programme, but the fact that this is even happening is already amazing. QuartalHarmony 643
He’s really ticking off those bucket-list conducting venues/orchestras, isn’t he? LSO? Did it years ago, mate. Vienna Phil? Check. Berlin Phil? Check. What’s next on the list? La Scala? Don’t mind if I do: check. eitam

Popular Post Marian Schedenig 8,816
I didn't know Maurizio had so much pull in the music business already. Joking aside, this is almost getting absurd. When I was at the airport queuing for my London flight in 2018 and the news came through that Williams had to cancel due to illness, I was almost certain I'd never get to see him live. Then I flew to Tanglewood to get my one (or so I thought) chance. Since then, we've had Vienna, and if all goes well I'll have seen him five times by the end of next week, with more opportunities already announced. At this point, I don't even feel like committing to this - if Williams really wants to return to Vienna, right before or after Milano wouldn't seem like a bad opportunity. And with everything else, London doesn't sound too unlikely, either. I'll just wait and see if anything else comes up and what my schedule will be. But a trip to Milano is certainly an option - I've only been there once for half a day, with no time for anything but out choir concert. Popular Post TownerFan 4,998
Here's the new updated link: https://www.filarmonica.it/eventi/concerti-straordinari-williams-19-giugno-2022-teatro-alla-scala Tickets will start selling on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at 2PM CEST through the Vivaticket circuit: https://www.vivaticket.com Price is not yet confirmed, but I expect it will be in the usual range of € 110 max. - €20 min. At first, because of some unclear wording on the original press release, it looked like this would be an outdoor concert in Milan's main Duomo square, but today it's been confirmed that the concert will take place in the legendary Teatro alla Scala, one of the temples of opera and classical music in the world. This is another historic moment in John Williams' career. It truly feels incredible to imagine the Maestro walking on the stage of this amazing place full of history and conduct a concert of his own music. Alex 2,867
Fairplay to a 90 year old having the motivation/energy to keep on performing and travelling. An inspiration to us all. Hugo 25
great news! I've already been to La Scala on several occasions. It's certainly more suited to opera than to symphonic music, but it doesn't matter, it will certainly be another great experience! JW is on fire despite age, a great example of passion and dedication to the music. GlastoEls
