SilverTrumpet 638
The grandfather of orchestral game music died on September 30th. Composer of the Dragon Quest series, Godzilla vs. Biollante, and much more was a legend in both the video game industry and music industry. https://mainichi.jp/english/articles/20211007/p2a/00m/0et/016000c If you don't know his music because you're not tuned into game music or not familiar with Japan at all, please take a listen: Yavar Moradi
Disco Stu 15,495
My introduction to his music was playing Dragon Quest V on the DS way back in 2009. This was when I was figuring that I really didn't care for JRPGs, but I totally fell in love with Sugiyama's score for the game. Just classic, classic game music right there. Jay 37,336
Pretty impressive that he scored every game all the way up to 11 It'll be interesting to see who scores 12. I haven't played or heard 11, but I did hear discussion on podcasts that felt his music had gotten stale by then
SilverTrumpet 638
I was hearing, but am not sure about how true it is, that he's already done stuff for 12. I hope it's true.
Jay 37,336
I'm sure Hayato Matsuo will get the main scoring duties
