Next year must produce a CD. That will generate more attention.

Disco Stu only does downloads

I voted for GWohl last year and am inclined to do so again( I've had problems listening to two pieces and want to give them  a fair listen before deciding).

It reminds me of those '

" switched- on" performances by Wendy Carlos of Bach and Purcell on Moog Synthesizer.

I'm a sucker for good contrapuntual writing!

Thanks Bruce. These Moog sounds are supposed to be brass instruments. But what is good enough for Wendy Carlos should be good enough for me.

If anything will evolve in the current vote result then probably the "middle finger" in that bar pattern will grow.

Anyway, it was fun creating this and listening to all pieces.

Carlos was also emulating brass instruments with a Moog-the trumpet solo in Brandenburg Concertos is her  most well known example.

A CLOCKWORK ORANGE opens with a Moog version of Purcell that also emulates a brass ensemble. Like you did!

Can't provide a llnk .because Carlos seems to be completely unavailable for streaming😞

@Glóin the Dark I'm not sure if you were going for humour, but I lost it after the 33rd chord change.

I was going for humour in every aspect except the chord changes, which were devised in deadly earnestness! :P

I've made some minor mods to my own piece, especially trying to make the ending more interesting (the link is also updated in the main post).

Let's get Mike to produce it. Perhaps he can improve the sound of our samples.

My mind went to a silent film piano score at the start (and I mean that in a very good way), but the conclusion really puts this over the top for me.

You should check out the conclusion now!

I changed my vote, because

  • First of all it deserves a vote and special attention for what it is as a musical piece.
  • Secondly, it is the only one actually played on an accoustic instrument.
  • It has the required celebratory vibe of a fanfare.
  • It is highly recognizable.
  • I like the piece.
  • Josh has enough votes anyway.

I finally had time to listen to all the entrees.  I picked MrJosh as my favorite.

But I really admire the work every person did.  I will never be able to come close to creating anything like that.  Very cool!

Yeah, but five years from now, whose piece will anybody remember?

Mine.

I feel like John Powell losing to Reznor and Ross.

I think in a forum called "JOHNWILLIAMSFan" it is legitimate to write in his "style", but just imitating him requires some advanced musical knowledge, thats why I think Josh is rightly the winner of this competition.

Yes. Congrats to @MrJosh!

And thank you, @Jurassic Shark, for doing this again.

I liked, like last year, the diversity of the musical creations.

I wished, more people had voted (even though they probably all would have voted for Josh :)).

Proposal for this year: Everybody is allowed to share three votes.

Even if it cannot be inforced by the poll function, I think, we all can count to 3. ;)

But if necesary, I would volunteer for the quality ensurance to check, that nobody voted more than three times.

But of course Shark is the master of the contest.

His word is law.

Last question: When will we get to hear @bruce marshall's fugue?

The piano version is fine. I liked it.

Thanks!

I like the prelude better on French harpsichord.

LMK what you think when The Great Mr. Josh downloads it.😊

Look for it on the COMPOSER THREAD.

Coming soon:

A contest/challenge  to orchestrate my parody/homage of  Mozart et. al.

All you budding Herb Spencer's get ready.😄
