Intriguing. Especially since the other vinyl release was on a different label. All we need now is for someone to put it on cd… what an interesting turn of events!

What the? Why?!?

People love that shit on bigger scratchable discs you have to swap every 20 minutes (approx). I don’t see the appeal aside from the cool packaging and artwork.

Being a fan of Hook's score is suffering.

Woefully incomplete OST to incomplete boot to another incomplete boot to an incomplete session leak to a poorly-produced expansion to a modern OST remaster to a modern reissue of the poorly produced expansion.

Sheesh!

And it's definitely the old 2012 LLL program:

6332_foto5_product_xl.jpg

They put "Music and Lyrics by" for every track on Side A, even though of course only "We Don't Wanna Grow Up" has lyrics.

Then it's just "Music By" for a while, until "The Banquet" and "The Neverfeast" where it's "Music and Lyrics By" again.  WTF is going on?

And then some tracks have a "Conducted By" credit, and some do not !?

Mike worked on the Mondo OST, any chance he redid this program competently?  Prologue (Alternate) is renamed to Trailer Music... surely he'd have called it Teaser Music.

Bootleg vinyl?

I'm sure it was as simple as Music On Vinyl asking Sony Music if they could issue the LLL program onto vinyl and Sony Music saying "sure"

He didn't work on this and the content is identical to the 2012 LLL CD

Now the question is, if there' a new expansion in the works, would they have said "nah wait a year we got something better" or just give no shits and collect the free money.

I think we know the answer to that!

Especially if a theoretical new expansion is stuck in approval hell.

Basically they added "(Expanded)" for tracks that have OST names but that are expanded compared to it. Pretty strange LLL didn't have to do that in 2012!

And "Prologue (Alternate)" => "Trailer Music"

What's next? Disney will release the Anthology assemblies on vinyl?

God forbid that should ever occur, but it wouldn’t surprise me if it did. What could be more insufferably hipster-ish (and therefore an instant must-buy) than vinyl pressings of that decidedly retro yet famous and one-of-a-kind box set?

For once in my life, I’m gonna actually root for Disney being true to its grasping and rapacious nature and hope it’s the latter.

Anyone else think it's funny that the new vinyl with the OST cover is the expanded program, and the new vinyl with a brand new cover is the OST program?

MusicOnVinyls looks rushed and messed up to me.
If the visuals on the website are the validated and definitive visuals, it's really messed up, the track infos and the artwork covers. "Original" when it's "expanded", "Musics and lyrics by John Williams"??? etc. I wait to see the final product but i'm afraid.

To me, this is what happened:
- "Oh Mondo vinyls are sold out in less than a quarter of an hour ! Jackpot !"
- "Really? What are we waiting for? More vinyls !"
- "But what more could we put in it? Which cover artwork?"
- "Everything we have ready!"
and then in chorus through Sony's offices
"Money! Money! Give us the money! Money! Money! Show us the money !"

I think Hook deserve more efforts, re-issue or not. The Mondo release look cool because new artworks even if it don't respect totally the Hook aesthetic. Supervised by someone who know what he is doing and new liner notes by John Takis.
I think they inverted the project charts for both releases. Mondo should be expanded and this one a simple re-issue.

It's funny because we've been waiting for 10 years for Hook stuffs and in less than 4 months, we have two.

But it prove that even if we get vinyls editions, they are not afraid to announce more stuffs.

What more is coming?

maybe they take down order pages after things sell out there?

Maybe but all infos are gone now. Usually the page stay with grey "sold out" button.

Sort of off topic, do we know who composed the music for this trailer?

John Williams, The Witches of Eastwick soundtrack

Yeah I would consider the mondo version the better version. Despite having less music on it seems like a lot more work was put into it to make sure it sounds like it should. I’ve seen a lot of comments around the internet complaining that mondo didn’t release this expanded version.

Pre-orders on the MusicOnVinyls are closed. That email say it is postponed but this edition is available on the french amazon website and it's announced for a release on june 2022. Now, impossible to say if it's the first release date or if it's the new date.

French Fnac shops announce the same date https://www.fnac.com/a16939742/John-Williams-Hook-Vinyle-Rouge-Translucide-Vinyle-album#omnsearchpos=1

Most people on this planet in 2022 don't buy music, they stream it.

So any new physical product is always high in that week's chart, because most of what does sell these days is collector's snatching up new releases.

Buying a physical CD, is like buying stock market share, except we don't own anything, at the end...

But we show our interest.

It counts, no?

It seems that 3 discs edition was a unofficial bootleg. I received an email to announce the cancellation by the label for legal reasons.

Interesting. What label was this? Nevermind I remember.

I think the label is "MusicOnVinyl".

But I'm not certain. It is cancelled because that edition was not legal or because the website where I bought it don't have authorisation to sell it?
I ordered it on the french website Fnac and I received it like that.

Quote

"For legal reasons, the label cancels and removes the "Hook Vinyl Red Translucent -- John Williams" release.
Your pre-order cannot be honored.
We are forced to cancel it."

Has anyone received a similar email from other websites that were selling it?
I sent a message to MusicOnVinyl anyway to have more information. I hope they will answer fast.

I received this update from MOV.

Thank you for your message.  We're still working hard to make the Hook release happen, but sadly we have no additional information on a possible release date yet. Sorry for the inconvenience. As soon as we know more, we'll make sure to immediately update every customer that ordered this item.
