Jurassic Shark 12,055
Huh, a synchronous orchestra. Is this the VPO trying to improve their reputation among soundtrack fans? Joni Wiljami

Drew 590
Can these be purchased in lossless anywhere? Not sure if they're on Qobuz. It gives the ending so much more power! The Berlin recording is now my standard recording for Harry's Wondrous World. bollemanneke

michael_grig 471
the end of the piece Compare 4:45 of the Berlin Version with 4:35 of the 20th Anniversary Version. Which one do you like more?

Drew 590
No idea. Just for the heck of it, I guess. Can't complain.

Was the ritardando introduced by the cover conductor of the Berlin concerts or elaborated during JW's own rehearsals? There was a less pronounced ritardando in the Vienna concerts in March - so it may have worn off. Also no bells up at the end of E.T. in Vienna. bollemanneke 3,342
Mediocre performances. Somehow sounded better in the special. And yet again, no reverb. BB-8
Madmartigan JC 85
Could these recordings have something to do with avoiding certain reproduction rights for the originals? Seems weird, but I can't quite understand the need to rerecord them. Not that I'm complaining, (the more recorded versions out there, the more to choose from). BTW, is that an edit at 3:23 of Harry's Wondrous World? PS: Happy to hear a different approach, but count me Team Ritardando. bollemanneke
bollemanneke 3,342
Yeah I can't see why re-recording these would make any financial sense. Especially when aforementioned glorious ritardando is being ignored!
