Actually, we need all three Stones!

Yes, we do.

BOTFOJ is quite repetitive, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't welcome an expansion.

I would love a NIXON expansion too (the most of the 3), and what's taking so long with JFK which had been 'unofficially' announced years ago?

If I would bet on something, I'd bet that this is the next release we're going to expect from LLL.

Thank you for this.
Does it mean the "master spreadsheet" in the relevant tread is incomplete?

It omits some of his early scores.

and how about ANGELA'S ASHES ? (Dunno how much is missing but I'd love a high resolution transfer on this)

Angela’s Ashes probably has in the neighborhood of 15 minutes unreleased: there’s a few cues in the film not on the OST (e.g. “The River Shannon”) and the titles of some cues seem to imply they have alternates (e.g. “Grandma's Funeral - Version 2”).

In the first version, she wakes up--turns out she was a heavy sleeper.

For some reason I had 110 feature film on my list: I didn't include Heidi and Jane Eyre (maybe because they were TV productions?) and instead Sergeant Ryker which you don't have on yours.

Out of those I count 13 scores with no release at all, 17 scores with an OST album only, 1 incomplete expansion (Hook), 56 scores with definitive (or almost definitive) releases, 9 scores with too high re-use fees (all have an OST album only) and 14 Star Wars/Indiana Jones scores (with releases of different sorts).

Sergeant Riker is not a feature film scored by John Williams.

It is an expanded re-edit of Kraft Suspense Theater season 1 episodes 1 and 2, "The Case Against Paul Ryker" parts 1 and 2.

Williams had scored those two episodes, and he did not compose any new music for the expanded re-edit.

He can retire from composing so that he can work full time on approving all the remaining expansions and premieres of his scores - including Indy and Star Wars 🙂

We could start a fund collection at JWFan to buy him a big approval rubber stamp saying "Approved by John Williams for Release" with a big pile of large ink pads. If that makes it easier.

But I think, apart from a few exceptions JWs approvals are not the issue. I rather think, due to his control we have this quality of releases that we experience today.

Considering this is a John Williams fans forum, and this thread is in the John Williams section, I am understanding that you agree with my previous post.

It would at least be nice if we received some more teases (Mike has been pretty quiet recently).

He's working on Star Wars and Indiana Jones, of course!  :D

*Actually I really do believe that. How or when it will come to fruition, that's another question.

I'd put Obi-Wan in new compositions rather than new album, seeing as he only composed that one piece. Also Jurassic Park under new albums rather than major reissues is a big stretch.

I can't follow this logic.  By my count, we got 8 new albums for Williams' 90th year?

  1. The Berlin Concert (Feb 4)
  2. SpaceCamp (May 13)
  3. Presumed Innocent (May 20)
  4. A Gathering of Friends (May 20)
  5. Violin Concerto No. 2 And Selected Film Themes (June 3)
  6. Jurassic Park (July 5)
  7. The Fabelmans (Nov 11)
  8. Amistad (Nov 29)

Plus 4 major reissues?

  1. The Complete Philips Recordings (Jan 21)
  2. Close Encounters (Aug 9)
  3. E.T. (Aug 9)
  4. The Cowboys (Nov 30)

And a bunch of new compositions

  1. Fanfare for Solo Trumpet To Celebrate the Reopening of David Geffen Hall (Mar 22)
  2. Obi-Wan (May 26)
  3. Centennial Overture (Jun 3)
  4. Helena's Theme (Sep 3)

Plus the man conducted major concerts all over the world

  1. Vienna (March 12-13)
  2. Philadelphia (Apr 19)
  3. Carnegie Hall (Apr 21)
  4. Pittsburgh (Apr 25)
  5. Hollywood Bowl (Sep2-4)
  6. Cleveland (Nov 13)
  7. Milan (Dec 12)

What more do you want?

There were plenty of releases, just nothing on the level of a Harry Potter box set or something like that. That’s all. I wasn’t trying to sound ungrateful for what we did receive. I just instinctively felt going into this year that there would be a high profile release like that and then there wasn’t.
