Popular Post Andy 4,074
Reflecting on this, what a missed opportunity that NASA never commissioned an official piece of celebratory music from him! John could’ve delivered Americana like the Patriot or whatever. To play before each launch and sell the theatricality of their efforts to the public. crumbs, Damien F and Arpy 2
Holko 9,497
They could have commissioned one in secret for Artemis for all we know...

That was my first thought when I saw the thread title. Wikipedia says: Quote NASA conferred their Public Service Medal to Vangelis in 2003. The award is the highest honour the space agency presents to an individual not involved with the American government. Tom 4,632
I would love a NASA commissioned work, but I suppose that is not realistic. Heck, even a reworked Spacecamp concert piece with tones of Williams "mature" stylings could be brilliant, analogous to Leaving Home for the Oscars. Edmilson 7,380
I think I'll create a thread: "What is the best NASA-inspired score? Williams' SpaceCamp vs Horner's Apollo 13 vs Conti's The Right Stuff" Andy
Tom 4,632
Williams is a bit dogged down by having the weakest movie of the three, particularly the purely kiddie stuff. However, the majesty of exploration stuff tops the other two. Andy
