If it's even a slightly different master, I'll probably want to redo the edits I replicated from the 20th Anniversary Edition because, you know, score collector OCD. I compared the 2022 samples to the 2016 tracks and it's definitely mastered differently. Different EQ applied, some more stage noises removed on the new release, and sometimes, different edits (e.g. "The T-Rex Chase" which is combined with "The Falling Car" starts a bit later in the new master). Pater Ecstaticus 4
I will probably get this because of OCD. And also, one of the discs on my 2016 4-disc set has a tiny scratch on it, and I can't unsee it (OCD again) - even if it has no effect on playback at all - so I will be able to get this CD out and not having to cringe about my own stupidity again. But if this remaster is slightly different (like for example the very slight but noticeable one on the latest, 2022 La-La Land Star Trek: The Motion Picture soundtrack release, compared to the 2012 3-CD set), and if there are some "corrections" (a relative term, I guess) made, then I can quite possibly legitimize this purchase. Also, I think it is nice to have this score as a "standalone" expanded 2-disc issue. Smeltington, Brando and bruce marshall 1

Jay 32,102
It's because on the 1993 album, the next track (A Tree For My Bed) begins as Dennis Steals The Embryo is still fading out. Dennis doesn't actually fully finish until a few seconds into the A Tree For My Bed track. This overlap is not retained on the 2013 or 2022 album rebuilds. Popular Post GoodMusician 54
I’m not at home so I don’t have the information directly in front of me for time codes but based on what I have I can give some guidance. -“[3m2A] Entrance to the Park” the end of this cue on the 2013 release has a ‘clean’ (no chair creek) ending. I don’t mind because it’s what they used for the film edit ending of the cue “[10m3] Eggs in the Forest” -“[9m3-10mA] A Tree for my Bed” this has a slightly different performance in the opening and the ending if I recall -“[10m2] My Friend the Brachiosaurus” has an alternate take near the middle part when the tempo perks up. The ending especially is performed faster. -“[11m2] Preparing to Meet the Monster” I don’t quite recall the difference but I THINK it’s the cue up until the percussive chase moment. -“[11m3-12m1] High Wire Stunts” this has some slight performance differences but the biggest to ear is the final carnivore motif at the end being faster. Possibly because the next cue technically would come in VERY soon after and the album version is more relaxed and doesn’t quite get out of the way in time when synced to the scene. -“[14m2] End Credits (part 1)” If I recall the big difference was in the horn to piano pass off where they aren’t quite in step with eachother. -“[14m2] End Credits (part 2)” again I think the big difference were some edit points and the final part with the carnivore motif (the quieter moments) I can get more specifics later but these are the major changes on the 2013 set I’m really excited for this set! It perfects and finalizes this for me and I can’t wait to explore it again! crumbs, enderdrag64, DrTenma and 5 others

Universal Orlando’s Islands Of Adventure Jurassic Park island plays the iso percussion from “The Hunt.” The unused track for when ingen shows up to catch the dinos Its incomplete but it played in the Discovery Center outdoor area. I recorded it lol its at 2:56-5:49 in that video. Islands of adventure was in final development just after the lost world came out. A lot of the props and vehicles were sent to Universal Orlando to be put on display and remain there to this day (if they haven’t been thrown out…) The Jurassic Park island has some zones of music written specifically for it but is otherwise mostly music from “The Lost World.” Even the “theme from Jurassic Park” that plays at the entrances to the island is the version recorded for The Lost World. I think I’d recorded all this probably by 2009 at the latest so we def had it earlier than that! LoL The mixing of the music is hard to comment too much on cause technically I had to record the whole thing twice: once right channel, once for left. And then sync and mix them… there are for sure some alternate takes uses in the River Adventure exit store though… I do agree the mix feels different but I also feel the same way when I get use to hearing real channel rips and feeling like somethings off when we get the music officially released heh so it could just be that I’d love the iso percussion but I’m not sure if he’d ever approve it. It makes me think of “Anderton Runs” where Williams scored with a lot of percussion and synth that could be used or unused in the mix (as evident by three mixes of the same cue). I wouldn’t mind a full perc mix version of “The Hunt” so I can retire mine heh Brando

La la records are laughing all the way to the bank with this NEW release It's only a ripoff if you buy it and feel you did not receive fair value for your money. If you don't purchase, there is no rip off. I doubt La-La Land are laughing all the way to the bank at all. The economics of these releases is that no one release is all that lucrative, although this is perhaps better than others because a lot of work was used for the box set. And, look at Kritzerland Records needing to run an IndieGoGo campaign to help it stay in business. Intrada has been using Kickstarter to fund new recordings (and happily moving more of its catalog to digital). GNP Crescendo is gone. Film Score Monthly had to stop with its line of releases (now many years ago, but for economic reasons). Varese and Quartet still seem to be producing a plethora of interesting and new discs, but who knows how their financials are. Look at the economy in general and know that inflation hits these companies too, such as in the cost of the printing, CD cases and manufacturing. And all the labels know that piracy drains potential sales. As I wrote earlier, I see this as as smart use of existing assets and licenses in the same way every other record label has repackaged their catalog for years and years. The benefit is that great material stays in print and new material can be launched. I feel the same way that some labels are producing LPs of the exact same material, taking advantage of the recent surge in interest in analog and probably even there treading much more on nostalgia purchases than actual utility. Popular Post Jay 32,102
The 2016 box set was only in print for 18 months before it completely sold out. There are lots of fans of John Williams' music on this planet who do not own it and would love to own a legal complete edition of this score. This 2022 edition is not being marketed as an essential new expansion for everyone who bought the original to please upgrade. It's being marketed as a reissue. Nobody is forcing anybody to buy it and nobody is taking the old editions away from you. In my opinion every John Williams title LLL ever released that later sold out should be reissued, either by them or another label, so fans of the maestro will always be able to legally buy all his music. enderdrag64, Holko, Andy and 11 others 9 4

Popular Post JohnnyD 1,150
Oh, yeah. The Maestro’s music from both Jurassic Park and The Lost World play throughout the Jurassic Park area in Orlando. This video has the music that plays throughout the area and it includes, in order, sections of The Trek (0:00 to 2:14), The Long Grass (2:14 to 3:44), Spilling Petrol (3:44 to 6:41), Reading the Map (6:41 to 7:56), On the Glass (7:57 to 10:09), Ludlow’s Speech (10:09 to 12:08), Corporate Helicopters (12:08 to 14:27), In the Trailer (14:27 to 16:40) and percussion overlay to The Hunt (16:40 to end). I have fond memories of going to the Jurassic Park area; after going on the ride, I’d always sit for a while in a quiet area and just listen to the music. Selections of the Maestro’s music also play in the gift shops. I remember listening to The T-Rex Chase, Rescuing Sarah, High Bar and Ceiling Tiles in the store. Thanks to The John Williams Jurassic Park Collection released in 2016, I can enjoy the entire score of both films. I can’t wait to get the 2022 reissue of Jurassic Park today for the updated remaster and the two film version cues.
