Popular Post crumbs 15,853 Posted September 3, 2022 Popular Post Posted September 3, 2022 WHAT!!?!? Wow!!! It's absolutely gorgeous, a classic Hollywood theme from the Golden age of film scoring. It sounds like Williams has been quite inspired by whatever he's seen in this film. This also leans into the film noir flavour of Irina's theme from KOCS, though sweeter and less femme fatale. Popular Post JonathanAsh 80 Posted September 3, 2022 Popular Post Posted September 3, 2022 Gorgeous! I love how there’s that subtle nod to Marion’s Theme near the end, where the violins end on the vi chord, the celli soar up with that arpeggio and then the violins try again to land back home, just like at the end of Marion’s Theme. MaxTheHouseelf 360 Posted September 3, 2022 Posted September 3, 2022 The ‚Marions theme‘ signature sound is definitely all over this piece, not just in the end. It’s a beautiful theme!
EhTar 63 Posted September 3, 2022 Posted September 3, 2022 Fantastic piece ! I really love the film noir aspect of it. So gorgeous too ! Thank you for such a sharing.
tomsmoviemadness 4,569 Posted September 3, 2022 Posted September 3, 2022 This is gorgeous. Of course, I did not expect anything else with Williams. But like many have said it's like it comes out of a film from the Golden Age. Can't wait to hear it in context Brando 1
artguy360 2,154 Posted September 3, 2022 Posted September 3, 2022 Wow! I'm overwhelmed by it. It is both golden age theme and also signature JW. The flute ending is classic. It's gonna take me a few more listens to nail down the main melody, but the music sounds lovely immediately. The Marion theme quite is so interesting with story Implications. Thank you for sharing. What a gift!
Jaaaackified 91 Posted September 3, 2022 Posted September 3, 2022 so we currently have no idea who plays Helena and who Helena is in the story, and Mangold still is willing to let JW debut a this new character theme with some apparent nod to another iconic theme in the same franchise. Isn't lucasfilm/disney notorious for shutting down any potential possibility of spoiler?

rough cut 1,784 Posted September 3, 2022 Posted September 3, 2022 Beautiful!!! I love the little phrases lifted from Marion’s Theme. I’m a little bit worried we’ll never get a piece like this again from John when he retires from film scoring.
Luke Skywalker 2,289 Posted September 3, 2022 Posted September 3, 2022 Could the marion quote be for the end credits bridge from helenas theme to raiders march? very nice theme. Maybe she is the main archeological antagonist. I dont think there would be a family relation to marion… Why would marion keep her a secret? Maybe to hide the twins from the emperor…? 😅
crumbs 15,853 Posted September 3, 2022 Posted September 3, 2022 Surely they wouldn't recycle the lost child route after KOCS. Bit awkward if Marion had yet another secret child and didn't mention it to Indy after marrying him artguy360 1
Raiders of the SoundtrArk 2,627 Posted September 3, 2022 Posted September 3, 2022 Damn that's such a beautiful piece. So glad that Mangold asked Williams to play it, I wish I would be there to hear it live.

Amer 2,685 Posted September 3, 2022 Posted September 3, 2022 What a neat idea! I had hoped that this would have happend. I think it’s the first time Williams has allowed a film piece to premiere in advance since he did Hedwigs Theme from the first Harry Potter film (pls do correct me if it happend again after that film)

The closest thing is when he performed an earlier version of “Hedwig’s Theme” at Tanglewood in July 2001. This is rare not just for Williams but for any composer. A piece from a film score premiered live in a large concert way before the film's premiere? This just does not happen! Note: There was also the Kenobi piece performed at the Star Wars celebration.

The only other occasion that comes to mind was Michael Gore's music to "Defending your Life" that was re-recorded by John Mauceri and the Hollywood Bowl ahead of the soundtrack release.

Popular Post Raiders of the SoundtrArk 2,627 Posted September 3, 2022 Popular Post Posted September 3, 2022 Just realizing that LucasFilms seems to be getting extra-care of its music since the past year: first Haab's soundtrack, then Solo's Expansion, then the Rogue One's one, then the premiere of Obi-Wan, then Griskey's soundtrack, then Willow and now this. The expansions of SW and Indiana Jones could really be happening in not so long Mattris, enderdrag64, Brando and 1 other 4

Popular Post artguy360 2,154 Posted September 3, 2022 Popular Post Posted September 3, 2022 Listening to this makes me curious about the tone and style of the movie. Popular Post jwfan06 561 Posted September 3, 2022 Popular Post Posted September 3, 2022 I love this piece, it has that bittersweet classic Hollywood character. The use of the Lydian mode at the beginning and end is very similar to the friendship theme from TROS. (0:35 and 1:16) It also has some great impressionistic traits like this progression: Sunshine Reger, apples and Andy 2 1
crocodile 9,480 Posted September 3, 2022 Posted September 3, 2022 This is really nice. I really like it. James Mangold is quite a classy and cultured guy. I hope he treats Williams' music with respect it deserves. Karol
Nick1Ø66 7,602 Posted September 3, 2022 Posted September 3, 2022 Wow, that was gorgeous. One of the most beautiful things I've heard from Williams in years. I loved every minute of it, and the hint's of Marion's theme...chills. And it definitely gives off the old-time Hollywood vibe, especially early going. All that's missing is the popping sound from the film reel. Andy 1

I've really liked the style of TROS so here's hope more similarities are underway Andy, MikeH and Tydirium 2 1
Popular Post Incanus 5,884 Posted September 3, 2022 Popular Post Posted September 3, 2022 Williams is such a master at fusing the Golden Age Hollywood sound with his own and making it so thoroughly and effortlessly his own. He is indeed the successor of those early film music giants and as Mangold says it that above tweet, bringing this particular pure symphony orchestra sound to modern audiences. Such a gorgeous theme. Tydirium, Docteur Qui and Andy 2 1

jwfan06 561 Posted September 3, 2022 Posted September 3, 2022 Also sounds a lot like a tribute to Victor Young's Love themes. This piece is basically a mix of TROS friendship theme, Marion's theme, Debussy-like impressionism and Hollywood classical style! Amazing!
