It angers me to my core that there are those who are so oblivious to common sense that they’d rather have Netflix win this than Paramount.

They’re both shit but for different reasons.

best case scenario is the regulators say no. Can’t see that happening though.

I'm still expecting a bid from Disney. That way, they will own everything, except for Netflix.

That might be the worst case scenario. Disney turns everything they touch into shit.

I’m torn between wanting cinemas to survive but also wanting the MCU to finally kill itself.

After reading more into it I've switched sides from Paramount to Netflix although it's purely a lesser of two evils situation.

What made you switch? I have a feeling it might be easy to find out but I don't have much time for reading through all the news. I only know of the BS 2000% fee Star Trek has now

What IS the fee? Did it go from $1 to $20? Or $20 to $400? What is the percentage of the item cost? We just know 2000% is a MUCH scarier way to say "20 times".

If it's $20, we're in good shape.

Its just late stage capitalism

I'm always curious about this phrase. Is there some limiting factor here that says "This will stop"? Or is it just "Wow, I don't like this"?

17 days. How generous.

Why bother at all?

I don't wanna rain on your parade but we're not gonna last 17 hours!

Third option: "This will cause the downfall and destruction of everything"

Wondering what this means for Warner Archive Collection blu-rays. Maybe I should buy up all those ones I was eyeing off on Amazon.

Maybe Netflix could allow the labels to release titles for 17 days and then ignore their entire catalogue for the remainig other days of the universe. (Come on, Paramount, strike.)

Thank you, I wanted to make an Alien joke but couldn't get there

I keep reading updates like this and thinking "shit", until I remember that Netflix buying WB is bad for films, while Paramount buying WB would be bad for everyone. Can't we have a third option?

In the last five years, I only watched like 4 or 5 Paramount flicks.

What IP does Paramount have that can save them?

The Naked Gun and Beverly Hills Cop to the rescue!

Its definitely not Star Trek. And Tom Cruise won't live forever

The question must now be asked: Can Tom Cruise be replaced?

Tom even defeated AI years before, in Oblivion!

The sad thing about this is that Netflix is terrible, but Paramount is the alternative...really? I am not even talking about politics, it is that Paramount has been struggling themselves for years. They have the worst franchises out of any of the major studios, and frankly, I thought they would have gone bankrupted by now.

To me Warner Bros and Universal should merge. Their franchises fits each other, and this will bring a lot of auteur filmmakers together.

They have all the Taylor Sheridan shows but apparently NBC just bought him out. So I guess they have...Spongebob? Transformers? Sonic the Hedgehog? The kids love this stuff.

All their franchises are done or dying. Transformers is dying, and the last film was a box office disappointment. Mission Impossible is done. Terminator is done. They ran GI Joe to the ground. I feel like they should be making or distributing films like F1, Mad Max, and Fast and Furious, but they are not. And HBO is way better and more prestige than Paramount+.
