A24 4,667
Well, I like some of the Noah Baumbach and Greta Gerwig movies (Frances Ha, The Meyerowitz Stories, Marriage) so there was actually a fairly good chance Barbie was up my alley. Seen who have made it (people rooted in independent cinema), Barbie could have been a different kind of movie than it is now. BTW, the general audience wasn't that crazy about the film either. So if it isn't for me, and not for the general audience that lives and die by big commercial franchises, then who is this movie for? Nobody seems to know. Neither fish nor fowl! Unlike pure commercial schlock like Transformers or Fast & Furious, Barbie at least had indie cinema veterans in it who could do something different and more interesting. Alas, I didn't care for it. But at least the Godfather joke was funny.

Eh? Could it be that many of those people that went to see Barbie thought it was actually overrated? A 6.8/10 score on IMDb seems to indicate that. They wanted to see what the fuzz was about but they discovered that ... there is no fuzz.

Certainly, but the "general audience" isn't a homogeneous mass who would all rate the film 6.8. Of the people who rated it on IMDb, more than half gave it a score of 7 or more, and about 40% gave it 8 or more. There definitely is a large constituency of people who love the film. Given its style and subject, it probably shouldn't be surprising that it's more polarising than the average film.

Jay 40,626
Knock at the Cabin This M. Night Shyamalan film is terrible, even worse than Old. This guy has way more bad movies in his filmography than good ones at this point, which is really a bummer. The story here doesn't even make much sense, and the "twist" is not exciting at all. Meh It was free on Prime, I believe, when we watched it, but doesn't seem to be any more.

Apart from The Sixth Sense (which once the twist is known has far less value) and Unbreakable none of his other movies really hold my breath. Edmilson 9,605
The Village is pretty good. At the very least it has an incredible JNH score and Roger Deakins' magnificent cinematography. Signs has one of the creepiest scenes in the history: It traumatized a whole generation of children , despite Joaquin Phoenix and the kids talking in Spanish even though this supposedly takes place in Brazil. Haven't seen his more recent stuff (Old, Knock at the Cabin, Trap). They all look like crap, and neither one of them have JNH music. filmmusic
Raiders of the SoundtrArk 2,539
Yeah the Deakins cinematography is perfect as always, and frankly that's probably the only reason i made it to the end.

bollemanneke 3,748
Across the Spider-Verse. Really loved Gwen’s bigger role. That alone makes it stand out. Still surprised how damn effective the three-note theme is and sincerely hope this score will be as nice on album as it was in the film.
