Bear would be a great idea.

Depends whether he's in orchestral, rock or just plain weird mode.

When he's good, he really comes up with great themes and such.

My brother and me are attending a concert of his in Utrecht in a few months.

I'll be curious what he'll play.

Same, I'm thing it's a mix of The Singularity and his less orchestral scores. Because I don't think he's touring with a larger orchestra.

I am too curious of who the composer will be. Here I gave some of the most likely alternatives based on the composer’s work history with the director/producer/music producer/the studio etc.

1. Michael Giacchino - well, duh…. I hope this won’t be the case

2. Hans Zimmer - even though he is the latest composer who collaborated with the director Gareth Edwards, I doubt he want to write music based on existing materials, in particular by John Williams, which he once did and heavily criticized for it in Man of Steel. I think he won’t want to feel that kind of hassle again.

3. Benjamin Wallfisch - he just collaborated with producer Frank Marshall and Universal Pictures in Twisters. I have a feeling he could be a likely and strong candidate for this. He is the classical equivalent of Lorne Balfe, so he will definitely take the job if he is offered. If he delivers the same quality as The Flash, then I won’t have any problem with it. He also would certainly get referral from Zimmer, if Gareth approaches him first.

4. Kris Bowers - he is just fresh from successful collaboration with Universal Pictures (in particular with Uni’s music presiden Mike Knobloch) in The Wild Robot. His almost-certain Oscar nom will surely help the chance. Heck, if Gareth Edwards want a Zimmer-sounding score but can’t afford him, Bowers can become an alternative. Though I personally don’t like this assignment

5. John Powell - he is currently having a great working relationship with Universal Pictures, consecutively from Migration, Wicked 1 & 2, and upcoming How To Train Your Dragon live action remake. Uni’s music executives love him, and of course he is the best choice for this. But scheduling conflict with How To Train Your Dragon (close release date in June and July) might prevent that chance.

5. Alexandre Desplat - he is too among the best choice for this. But I doubt the studio and producer want to collaborate again with a composer who openly despises Hollywood studio system. And I doubt Desplat would want that conflict as well.

6. Ludwig Goransson - he got two Oscar nom from his collaboration with Universal Pictures in Nolan’s movies. He is too no stranger to adapting and developing upon John Williams’s music. He has no big assignment in 2025. And judging by the movie’s “mininalist” thriller and jungle theme, he will be a good choice. Again, he is the best alternative for director who can’t afford Zimmer

I'm more and more starting to feel like I'm the only one on here that loves Giacchino's music🤣🤣.

I don't care, but I do find it funny.

I don't know JW as well as JP. (And I don't know the subsequent movies at all.) But I LOVE his JW theme.

I just hope the film is half as entertaining as this… basically a low budget comedy theatre version of Jurassic Park. And yes, they hum the music at various points… it’s actually finishing in London tomorrow but is going round the UK on tour, well worth a look. Particular highlights are the impressions of Jeff Goldblum and Bob Peck which are both hilarious and spot on…

The only two films I unreservedly enjoy with no caveats are Jurassic Park and Jurassic World. I like III rather a lot but I don't go back to it unless we've just watched one of the others. Jurassic II is a masterpiece compared to JW2 and JW3.

And I like Gareth Edwards. So... Sure. I'm up for this.

EDIT: Has Desplat not been mentioned as a possible?

Dominion had its UK TV non-streaming premiere on 22nd Dec ... I've recorded it, not watched yet. Didn't see in the cinema at the time ... general consensus seemed to be that it was overlong and the cast were noticeably 'phoning it in', so I thought I'd save my money.

Despite not being a fan of any of the WORLD movies, I've seen all of them 4-5 times each. And stumbled my way through the friggin' kiddie show on Netflix. That's how much of a JP nut I am; I'm willing to forego my misgivings just to be in that world. (I've also played the Telltale videogame and seen the original three films hundreds of times combined, but that's a different story).

Hopefully, however, this new film will be BOTH good AND satisfy my JP needs. No need to forego anything.

The Netflix show is actually pretty good! Not good enough for me to finish it without my kids, but good enough for me to make sure that when they watched it I watched it.

Spoiler

A really cool thing was when you started to realize it was happening DURING JW and when it was all over that the kids were still stuck on the island.

Ah man! Wish I knew about this sooner. Sounds right up my street.

Edit: Never mind, the tour is coming within half an hour of me next month!

Have you checked the sequel series set post-Fallen Kingdom? I found it better than Camp Cretaceous. It grew up with its characters.

Oh great. Glad you’ll be able to see it. If you know the film even half well you’ll have a lot of fun. Enjoy!

I have not. The kids have mentioned it a few times.

The only option I'd care about right there, out of your list.

The others I either don't know at all, specifically don't want or have had their chance and failed to deliver on their potential.

I don't care, but I do find it funny.

I loved him on Medal of Honor and The Incredibles and some others.

He's been losing my interest though.

I never even bothered listening to half of JW2 and the whole of JW3 and I fear I'm not really missing out.

I watched the first of the kids shows.

It started pretty good!

Then went into bizarre sci-fi territory that didn't relate much to dinosaurs anymore.

I didn't care for that...

Dominion is right up there with Rise of Skywalker

Bear McCreary's symphonic rock album.

Ah!

Right.

Indeed I understood there'd be some rock in the concert.

Can't say that excites me much, but we'll see...

Uh...

Hear?

OUCH, that hurts.

Confirms why I point-blank refuse to watch it then.

I've heard nothing good about JW3.

I thought the story was going "whole WORLD is overrun by dinosaurs now".

That was a bit over the top, but could still make for something fun.

But then I heard something about... locusts?

Wut...?

WHY?!?

I wish they'd make the dinosaurs more real-life accurate.  The featherless dinosaurs in the first movies made sense since that was where the science was at the time.  Now they're like real life dino fan fiction.

Also could be a fair reason to why the special effects of the new ones don't feel like they've progressed

That was what really brought the idea to mind.  (Part of the reason why Jon Favereau's Apple Dinosaur show is interesting)

What's good about JW3 then??

(I haven't seen it as JW2 was already the worst.)

I thought Dominion was fun because it brought back the original cast and had tons of new dinosaur species that were never featured before. As for the plot, I believe Dr. Malcolm described it best:

Opposite for me. I remember the first time I saw JURASSIC PARK and being bummed to hear about the bird connection when Grant explains it at the dig. I hadn't heard of that before. I gotta give it to the fat kid in the scene -- that doesn't sound scary at all! :D Fortunately, the film still had reptilian-looking beasts, which are way cooler. It's only in later years that they've started adding feathers and shit to T-Rexes and raptors. Closer to the truth, perhaps, but way more meek.

I experienced that just this last summer!

But I've never found birds particuarly scary. Not even in THE BIRDS (okay, perhaps as a kid a little bit).

I can tell you, that's probably just because you are used to birds flying away when you come near.

I once had a girlfriend who had a little phobia of birds. And ironically we experiecned her multiple times getting attacked by birds. This seemed to have been a two way thing between her and the birds. But there I realised that, when birds don't flee but actually fly in your direction they can appear very threattening.

If anything the feathered ones look less meek because they have more meat on their bones.

Indeed I like my Dino's exactly how we got them.

Reptilian is cool!

Last year on cruise, a seagull started eating my ice-cream right in front of me!

Annoying, but also admittedly quite funny.

I had no clue they liked...

Was it mango? Or raspberry? Or something?

BIG damn bird though! Imposing indeed.
