Listening to the track samples now. Oh my goodness! I thought this would take another 10 years!

(And I already ordered of course!)

Cannot wait for the item to arrive! And will order the LP at some point too.

I like how we've gotten two years of people celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Spielberg/Williams collaboration since people were counting when they first met in 1972 lol.

Did someone pointed a gun to JW's head? Amazing they managed to finally release Sugarland.

I recognize its historic value, but after listening to the samples this is not an album I would listen to repeatedly. Maybe the end titles, if it would further develop this nice string sound at the end of the sample. The rest is just musically not interesting enough for me. And he did an improved version of that kind of music later on with Missouri Breaks.

Ordered! I see that Williams probably asked that the source music be nixed, but it'll be worth it just to hear "The Last Ride" in glorious, pristine stereo

Yeah! I wanted to say it, but I was afraid that everyone would "eat" me! (this is a Greek expression, I am not sure, if it's used in English too).

Of course we're grateful for this release, but it seems that all the source music is not included. :( Maybe some as I see from the titles.

I would hope that the bootleg would become obsolete with this release.

No worries, glad to see someone else had the same concern. Looking closer at the track list, it seems that "Sugarland Dance" and "Road Ballad" could indeed be source cues

Maestro John Williams felt that the score for THE SUGARLAND EXPRESS was too brief for an album, especially in comparison to the more expansive and well known projects that followed

THAT was the reason for not letting it be released for 50 years?? No way!

It's about 5 minutes shorter than the RotJ OST, so I'm not entirely buying that being the main motivator.

The difference is that RotJ has over 2 hours of music and The Sugarland Express only about 40 minutes and most cues are short.

And yet even though I'm told it wasn't JW's choice for the RotJ OST to be that short, he evidently never came back to expand upon it himself at any point afterwards. So it's a little strange when 90% of that running time is considered harder to work with.

We have an expression that is similar, but it means something completely different!
