Bespin Copilot 10,060 Posted September 27, 2024 Posted September 27, 2024 Please accept my respects, Professor McGonagall, Lady Crawley. š½
Richard P 4,949 Posted September 27, 2024 Posted September 27, 2024 Oh noĀ Ā I'll always know her best as McGonagall - they couldn't have found a more perfect actress. Ā RIP. MaxTheHouseelf 1

Popular Post tomsmoviemadness 4,434 Posted September 27, 2024 Popular Post Posted September 27, 2024 What I think is so great about the career she's had is that every generation thinks of a different character when they talk about her. Just phenomenal!!! Tallguy, crocodile and Trope 2 1
Edmilson 10,997 Posted September 27, 2024 Posted September 27, 2024 Daniel Radcliffe pays tribute to late "Harry Potter" co-star Maggie Smith. They worked together for 10 years on the franchise. Ā āShe was a fierce intellect, a gloriously sharp tongue, could intimidate and charm in the same instant and was, as everyone will tell you, extremely funny. I will always consider myself amazingly lucky to have been able to work with her, and to spend time around her on set. The word legend is overused but if it applies to anyone in our industry then it applies to her. Thank you Maggie.ā Ā https://variety.com/2024/film/news/maggie-smith-tributes-daniel-radcliffe-harry-potter-cast-1236157869/ Yavar Moradi 1
tomsmoviemadness 4,434 Posted September 27, 2024 Posted September 27, 2024 I just read that that she passed exactly one year after Michael Gambon. That's weirdly bizarre in a way.

Ā - Dame Maggie Smith Ā She's one of those actors that's looked the same age from the first time I saw her. A true joy to watch in everything I've seen her in. She'll be missed. Holko 11,675 Posted September 28, 2024 Posted September 28, 2024 Yesterday I easily assembled the Wendy-related cues from Hook in remembrance, but I realised that weirdly JW didn't seem to think her that important at all in HP, I can barely think of a few instances where he specifically scores/emphasises her! It's mostly just the witchy fiddle at the end of Journey to Hogwarts and maaaybe the end of Owl Delivers Nimbus 2000. The cat transformation in Privet Drive is more about the special effect, so is the opening of Transformation Class while the rest of it is just scoring the scary story being told.
GerateWohl 6,198 Posted September 28, 2024 Posted September 28, 2024 The first time I had seen her in a movie was probably Clash of the Titans. Then A Room with A View. Anyway, with every appearance she left a grand impression. Great actress.Ā Trope 1

Ā I mean, who are you comparing her to? She doesn't really get emotional heart-to-hearts with Harry like Dumbledore or Hagrid, and there's not really room to give her as many fun musical stings as Snape, besides the aforementioned witchy fiddle and cat transformation. Not like they really have designated themes or motifs of their own. McGonagall's primary role is disciplinarian, so it makes sense JW backs off whenever she's gotta take center stage and give the kids a stern reality check. He's as scared of her as they are!
Marian Schedenig 10,833 Posted September 28, 2024 Posted September 28, 2024 I'm a bit late (didn't get around to posting yesterday), but I see this hasn't been posted yet: Ā RIP. The first time I ever saw here must have been inĀ Hook. I haven't watched that in ages, but I was surprised that as far as I remember, she looked at least as old in that as she did years later throughout the Potter films. Once 974 Posted September 30, 2024 Posted September 30, 2024 This one hurts. I wish I was born earlier so I could've watched more of her stage work. I don't think she got many roles on screen that matched her magnificent acting skills. And I really wish they had filmed the adaptation ofĀ A German LifeĀ they announced! dowswillformus 1
