Popular Post Ricard 2,540 Posted November 12, 2024 Popular Post Posted November 12, 2024 An illustrated introduction to the life and work of the Maestro by long-time fan and researcher Cláudio Leyria. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1JgN4oweeEerWFmWzZ_010jZdUAV7fBco/view?usp=drive_link About the author: Quote Cláudio Leyria, a Brazilian fan of John Williams since he was 8 years old, made a sticker album with John's biography, collecting photographs and researching data about the composer. In fact, Leyria has been researching John Williams for 40 years, before the internet. Leyria has been a journalist for 35 years. He currently works at a textbook publishing company. In his free time, he produces sticker albums on a variety of topics, just for fun. The Grey Cow Editorial is just a fan work, not to make money. He planned this book about John Williams for a year, needing to collect new data so that the album would have the minimum amount of good information about the composer's childhood, life and work. Leyria became a fan of John Williams with Close Encounters of the Third Kind. He can't say which soundtrack is John's best, but Raiders is one of his favorites. The sticker album provides a good summary of John's life and work, information about his musical family, his early work, his origins in the world of jazz, his most important films, his association with Steven Spielberg and George Lucas, his time with the Boston Pops, all of his Oscar nominations (and the ones he won), many tributes, many other awards and other important colleagues. It's a very moving album! enderdrag64, Madmartigan JC, BB-8 and 10 others 2 8 3

Popular Post JonathanJPK 6 Posted November 12, 2024 Popular Post Posted November 12, 2024 This took me back to my 80s childhood and all those Panini sticker albums and the associated frustration at getting THE SAME stickers all the time! I would have loved to have owned this as a 8 year old! in fact I would love to own one now! :-) Marc, Claudio, Andy and 1 other 4
Jurassic Shark 16,354 Posted November 12, 2024 Posted November 12, 2024 So Cláudio Leyria beat Tim Greiving in publishing an English language biography on JW. Congrats! While we're on the topic of stickers: when I searched for this book online, I found this site with stickers of album covers. I didn't know this is a thing. https://albumcoverstickers.com/john-williams-the-post-album-cover-sticker-/ Claudio and BB-8 1 1

It's a collection of Williams photos made into something that looks like somebody already collected all the stickers and put them in. This would be fun if we could actually print it and then "collect" (or at least randomly draw from our printed heap) the stickers and get excited about putting them in… but they're already printed where you're supposed to put them. You'd have to do some extra work to remove all of them or at least make them black and white, or blurry, or something. Claudio 1

Looks like it is, unless the below is fake: The image represents the original poster of the opera Europa riconosciuta by Antonio Salieri, 1778, August 3. Sounds a bit like the HE-MAN AND THE MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE sticker comic book I had as a kid. Genius marketing strategy. Had to buy bubblegum with the stickers inside (that sometimes formed a whole panel, or parts of it) to complete the story. Of course, I wasn't aware of the cynical marketing at the time; I just gobbled it all up (literally). Jurassic Shark and Claudio 2

Williamssage 20 Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 This is really fun and beautifully done! I don't wish to appear ungrateful, but perhaps someone who knows Cláudio Leyria could mention that there are two page 20s (page 19 is missing). BB-8 1
