Tydirium 1,642 Posted November 14, 2024 Posted November 14, 2024 Whoa! Potentially from an upcoming album…? Or just a one-off.
Jay 46,770 Posted November 14, 2024 Author Posted November 14, 2024 It'd be from this series of BSO concerts https://www.jwfan.com/forums/index.php?/topic/33903-boston-symphony-hall-2021-2022-season-opens-with-john-williams-conducting-anne-sophie-mutter-for-violin-concerto-no-2-september-30-october-2/ https://www.bso.org/events/bso-community-concerts Tydirium and BB-8 2
Tydirium 1,642 Posted November 14, 2024 Posted November 14, 2024 I just found this, available for pre-order: https://store.deutschegrammophon.com/p51-i0028948664528/john-williams/john-williams-in-concert-imperial-march-shaped-picture-vinyl/index.html I also noticed that the cover art on this single matches that of the upcoming “John Williams: In Concert” release: https://store.deutschegrammophon.com/p51-i0028948657070/john-williams/john-williams-in-concert/index.html The BSO Imperial March is not listed as a track on that album, but maybe the tracklist will be updated to include that? So, the single is likely a one-off. Still, cool! BB-8 1

BachSkywalker 232 Posted November 14, 2024 Posted November 14, 2024 That's quite the set list on the multiple vinyl set. Does anyone know who performed the Elegy for Cello and Orchestra on that concert?

Jay 46,770 Posted November 14, 2024 Author Posted November 14, 2024 The answer is in that thread for that concert. Spoiler Bruno Delepelair
BachSkywalker 232 Posted November 14, 2024 Posted November 14, 2024 Thanks! And found this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X70eWvhuR_4 BB-8 1
Jay 46,770 Posted November 14, 2024 Author Posted November 14, 2024 Honestly I think there should be one thread for the 7-LP set, and one thread for the Imperial March single. They really have nothing to do with each other except coming out on the same day by the same label BB-8 and Tydirium 1 1
QuartalHarmony 1,024 Posted November 14, 2024 Posted November 14, 2024 Now we’re in the land of singles, is there going to be a 12” extended dance mix? And a dub version? And a radio edit? WilliamsStarShip2282 and BB-8 2

Jay 46,770 Posted November 14, 2024 Author Posted November 14, 2024 The link opens in a web browser. It just doesn't open on your iPhone if you let the Apple Music (or whatever its called now) app take over the link click At midnight it should be live in the US Apple Music site
Tydirium 1,642 Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 Strange; it’s 1am and still not live on the US Apple Music.
rpvee 1,104 Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 Not seeing the single on US Apple Music either, but the video of the performance seems to be there. Can’t tell if it was just released there today. https://music.apple.com/us/music-video/the-imperial-march-from-star-wars-the-empire-strikes/1775997153 The single itself is on YouTube: BB-8 1
Popular Post Steve 702 Posted November 15, 2024 Popular Post Posted November 15, 2024 The world really needed another release of the "Imperial March". We only have so few versions of this masterpiece... That_Bloke, Dr. Know and Loert 3

Williams conducted both the Concerto and the encore. The rest of the program (Beethoven and Bartok) was conducted by Andris Nelsons. I believe that the Imperial March was performed the following day at this concert: https://www.bso.org/events/bso-community-concerts

Jay 46,770 Posted November 15, 2024 Author Posted November 15, 2024 Interesting that it's not on iTunes US. So DG is choosing not to release it here?
Tydirium 1,642 Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 Very strange. It’s not on Qobuz US, either. It can be streamed on Spotify and Amazon in the US, but is not available to purchase on Amazon.
Miguel Andrade 1,735 Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 4 hours ago, Jay said: Yes, definitely the Oct 3rd one After checking my archives, I can confirm that The Imperial March was the final encore. This was available, for a short time, online at BSONow, excluding only the three arrangements for Mutter, which were released on Blu-ray along with the première of the Violin Concerto No. 2. BB-8 6,421 Posted November 18, 2024 Posted November 18, 2024 No date provided on the quadruple single vinyl....

Tydirium 1,642 Posted November 20, 2024 Posted November 20, 2024 This is now available on the US Apple Music/iTunes, FYI. Matt S. 1
Jay 46,770 Posted November 20, 2024 Author Posted November 20, 2024 It is, and funnily enough it lists Nov 15 as the release date even though it wasn't live that day https://music.apple.com/us/album/the-imperial-march-from-star-wars-the-empire-strikes/1777864455 Tydirium 1
BB-8 6,421 Posted August 13, 2025 Posted August 13, 2025 25% off the 7 LP set at DG shop...just saying.
