filmmusic 3,222 Posted December 28, 2024 Posted December 28, 2024 I don't know if this has been mentioned, but has anyone seen this? https://www.imdb.com/title/tt33322019/

None of the music I've heard is Williams', rather sounds like library music. And these infamous pictures appear, which knocks the legitimacy down a few pegs... EDIT: Beginning to think that the narration is an AI-generated voice. Odd pronunciations of composers' names. "Wax-MAN". "Hair-MAN". (Leonard) "BERN-Steen". Richard (not RICK-ard) Strauss. And strange intonations at times. EDIT 2: Okay, there are actually a few bits of Williams' music sprinkled throughout. Maurizio, mahler3, Martinland and 1 other 1 1 2
Popular Post mahler3 548 Posted December 29, 2024 Popular Post Posted December 29, 2024 Thanks for posting this, other than the dodgy inaccurate script (Williams decided to take a break from film music when KOTCS wasn’t Oscar nominated?!?! 😳🤦♂️😆) and the ridiculous jazz saxophonist confusion, there are some interesting photos and archival interviews from UK tv (1996 / 98). It’s also good to see some professionally filmed footage from the Barbican LSO concert rehearsals at long last. Happy memories! Brando, Once, enderdrag64 and 1 other 3 1
ricsim88 329 Posted December 29, 2024 Posted December 29, 2024 Thanks for the photos Tim. As someone who became a professional trumpet player because of John Williams and Maurice Murphy, it’s fantastic to see both in the same photo while doing what they do best. mahler3 and BrotherSound 2
mahler3 548 Posted December 29, 2024 Posted December 29, 2024 There’s also a short clip from the 1984 Jonathan King interview recorded in Boston for BBC which is from source elements by the looks of it.

Wow, I had no idea there was footage from that. I was there and my clearest memory is of some of the attendees clapping after a piece was finished - I think more than once. And Williams finally had to turn around and tell them to shut up. I think his exact words were "We're trying to work here". I'd never attended an open rehearsal before but I instinctively knew not to clap or make any noise whatsoever! And yes, my VPN tricked the site into thinking I'm in America... watching now even though it's after 1 am. What?... Star Galactica Wars? mahler3 1

Popular Post Maestro 1,594 Posted December 29, 2024 Popular Post Posted December 29, 2024 There's something awfully fishy about this "director," Tom Tunley, who turns up out of nowhere to direct... TEN documentaries in 2024? This is just some high-level A.I. wizardry (hackery), isn't it? If not, it's the worst case of just cheaply slapped-together Wikipedia drive-bys about celebrities and politicians for the age of free streaming services. Either way... gross.
