I can't afford it right now, I get paid on Friday.

I don't think it will sell out by then, right? :P

(it's not a limited edition)

edit: I see at MBR it's €65.45 with shipping included.

I think, they have lowered the shipping costs, right?

Considering almost everything on disc 3 is redundant (the same mixes and material already available on discs 1-2)

"The Patriot" and "The Patriot Reprise" on the album both use the same alternate take compared to the versions on Disc 2. "The Family Farm" on Disc 3 is an alternate that is exclusive to the album presentation.

It’s €76.95 including shipping (€21). €65.95 with DHL Global Mail.

Well, of course anyone would pick the cheapest option.

Why would you choose the more expensive one? To get the cd sooner?

If you go over some price limit you can only pick the more expensive one. Which was still "only" 17€ last time I ordered from them. Ugh.

Now this is interesting. This is my PayPal receipt of the MBR purchase. The math doesn’t seem to work. :)

Is €46.63 the price for what MBR got the set from LLL? And they’re selling it for €55.95? So they are making €9 on every set? Are we supposed to know this? :D

It seems MBR has lowered their prices a little bit. Intermezzo media would be higher (its not there yet but dark crystal costs some more € than at mbr)

Well, I can tell I'm going to love it. Some of the writing is definitely in the AI/HP1 vein, also heard it in the Legacy podcast sample.

Absolutely, I was just surprised to see so little discussion of the samples is all.

Intrada does something weird with their samples where they embed each one in a playlist file which gets downloaded, but Winamp doesn't seems to do anything with it on my PC.

The North Star and The Wedding are pleasant - I'd certainly add them to a custom album. There's not a lot else I'm finding that's truly exciting me, but then I find the OST too long as it is.

This is what convinced me to grab this. As soon as I heard hints of A.I. (one of my absolute favourites), I was hooked.

Not one day has passed since it was released, there is plenty of time to discuss the samples and the score.

I advise to install VLC media player. it's completely free and can read absolutely everything.
That's how I play the samples from Intrada.

I actually never heard the score nor watched the movie before, and probably won't watch it. But the samples really sold it for me. I can't wait to get my copy! It's some great Williams material.

I use VLC as my main video player, but the format on a website like Intrada's shouldn't be using a format that needs it.

The M3U files are simply playlist files (text files with links to the MP3s), and they open without issue in Windows Media Player and Media Player (the "newer" version of Windows Media Player). The issue that @Smaug The Iron has is more likely related to the browser they're trying to play them in and less about the M3U file itself.

have problem with some American war movies that look too much like nationalistic propaganda, glorifying and romanticizing the life of war heroes.

Fair enough. It’s still great entertainment, though, nicely shot and acted, and JW’s score alone is worth the price of admission. There are many war movies that are way worse than The Patriot.

Gibson’s character hates war and fighting, he opposes going to war against the Brits and forbids his sons to join the military. Only a tragic turn of events makes him change his mind and even then he hates everything about it.

Rewatched it this weekend and my main problem with it was the same as last time, that it just rushes through formulaic beats with little air left to breathe or hang on moments. Ann's big speech to the parishoners and their turn feels completely unearned because all we hear from them before it are 2 sentences of "eh I dunno". The miltia is getting assembled? A single short montage and they're all doing great with no hardships. The false low point of nobody coming back to the swamp after the week's leave to tend to their families? They barely even finish the sentence about it and the boats are already coming. Ann and Gabriel get married - as soon as she gets home with her parents, Tavington is already there to herd them into the church and burn them. Benjamin's true low point after Gabriel's death and the supposed fakeout of him not joining back for the big battle? Again pretty much minimal time.

Maybe the extended cut fixes some of these issues?

Nope, that's what I watched, it doesn't touch any of these examples.

Let’s watch out for spoilers for those who haven’t seen it yet.

It's a 25 year old movie. The tracklist has just as many or even more spoilers.

Another note on the price: It’s $39.99 at Intrada’s site, it’s €38. And €55.95 at MBR.

We don't have to avoid spoilers in threads dedicated to talking about scores.

I was just thinking about those who haven’t yet seen the film.

Buying directly from Intrada will cost me around €90, including postage and import taxes.

Ordering from MusicBox will be the around 76€.

Ordering from Intrada, for me, would only be cost effective if no taxes were to be applied. And if that was the case, the price from MusicBox would probably be lower too.
