The Patriot (Intrada) 3CD Set

At an earlier page of this thread I mentioned, corrected by Jay, that apart from this one and the Jaws and Jaws 2 expansions Intrada usually used the OST covers of the scores.

Apart from that, what crumbs said.

And as well mentioned before: I like the cover of this release.

Well even for the Jawses it's the same art with just the black border removed.

For realz? Didn't he just say in that interview he never reused that theme?

This is the demo that was released on a promo.

I see. Shame it's impossible to find anywhere. The album is on Spotify, but most of the tracks, including the Arnold, is "blacked out" and unavailable.

The great thing about Titus is the lack of consistency from cover to cover.

He tailors his artwork specifically to the film it accompanies, so each cover is distinct from the one preceding it. He always changes fonts, layouts and margins, and certainly never lazily pastes in a raw scan of the teaser/theatrical posters alongside a default font for the composer credit.

And yet his design fingerprints remain recognizable, which is the sign of a great designer.

You are absolutely right. Jim Titus is excellent. Of course, when I said consistency with previous archival releases (and original albums for that matter), I meant where "Original Motion Picture Soundtrack" is usually at the top and the bottom has it as "Music Composed and Conducted By John Williams." I could not find a font aside from what was easily available. Also, if Jim Titus had done this, I believe that poster would have been utilized, unless there is another image representative of the film that is more striking.

True! The scene that immediately comes to mind whenever I think of the film (imagery AND music) is that scene. That and when Martin takes the American flag during the battle at the climax of the film and waves it urging the Colonials to hold the line and push forward.

Here's a quick idea of how it could have been:

A little rough, but Ramiro or Ken would probably have been able to make it work

Reminds me of the time years ago when I uploaded a fake edit of the aborted "I Am The Senate" track as a prank and Jay gave me a warning.

Gosh, I don't remember that at all.  What was the warning for?

Man I don't even remember that at all.  Must have been in close proximity to someone else doing something similar

I'm guessing it will go up for sale Monday evening, and Roger just accidentally typed 20 instead of 21 into his post.

Exactly. Roger corrected himself on FB:

Best one in this whole thread. I'm not a fan of the Struzan-styled one as I think the hand-drawn look is a little chaotic/messy.

I'm extremely torn on Intrada's covers, overall. I often find that the text is a little on the generic side, and in this case, lacks some contrast with the background. Perhaps they're also omitting a few more 'cleanup' steps like someone showed with Out Of Africa.

But the entire cover art world is too subjective, as I can see with License to Kill. I think I'm the only person here who thinks that cover is ok. However, the number of times the first response to news of a great release is 'awful cover', and I look at it and think.... it's not perfect, but.... awful? Really?

That's really nice, @crumbs! Thank you. Difficult to choose whether I should go with that or mine.

I think for Discs 1 & 2, I'll use that cover, and for Disc 3 (which I believe will contain the original album), I'll use mine.

Perfect!

Apologies if this was asked earlier. But are they not even releasing the track information until the 20th as well? Is that just how Intrada does their releases? I feel like LLL at least has samples and track lists available a few days before they're available to order...

1: nope!

2: I don't think LLL have samples and track lists before they are available to order, unless it's special circumstances, but I could be wrong

Hmm they may want to start the disc 2 numbering from 1 instead of 30, especially to make Mike's alternate tracklist make sense.

That's not really necessary is it? You wouldn't be making a playlist from this Tracklist, but from the CD you yourself own.

So all that really matters is how the CD itself is listed/how you rip the CD.
