Jill Sandwich 10,905 Posted January 11, 2025 Posted January 11, 2025 Any dark and disturbing films due out?
tomsmoviemadness 4,735 Posted January 11, 2025 Posted January 11, 2025 Wolf Man is the very first one of the top of my head
Jill Sandwich 10,905 Posted January 11, 2025 Posted January 11, 2025 I meant really dark and disturbing.
Knight of Ren 1,500 Posted January 11, 2025 Posted January 11, 2025 Out of those mentioned above, really curious about: -David Robert Mitchell's Flowervale Street -Coogler's Sinners -Mickey 17 -Chazelle's new film -PTA's new film Not really in a hurry to watch most of the blockbusters aside from a couple of them, like Avatar 3, Wicked 2 and Mission Impossible 8.

tomsmoviemadness 4,735 Posted January 11, 2025 Posted January 11, 2025 Of course they haven't. It's the pretty much the only thing that makes money. Davis 1
Jill Sandwich 10,905 Posted January 11, 2025 Posted January 11, 2025 Make nothing but original stories and then people will have no choice but to see them.
Raiders of the SoundtrArk 2,658 Posted January 11, 2025 Posted January 11, 2025 Well it's sure that after 16 Mickey movie, Bong Joon-ho could have stop but no he had to direct Mickey 17. On top of that you've got Kosinski who's lauching a saga named "F" and Pixar are also making Eli 0 franchising The Book of Eli
Jay 45,565 Posted January 11, 2025 Author Posted January 11, 2025 I read yesterday that Dan Trachtenberg already secretly filmed a Predator movie that will ALSO be out this year, BEFORE Predator: Badlands. Is this true? I also remember reading that Matt Vaughn had secretly filmed a Kingsmsn movie that will be out this year
Raiders of the SoundtrArk 2,658 Posted January 11, 2025 Posted January 11, 2025 Don't know about either of this but would definitely add them to my list. Trachtenberg did such a terrific job on 10 Cloverfield Lane and Prey that I can't wait to see what he'll do next. As for Vaughn even though Argylle was quite forgettable, it stil was fun, same for The King's Men About the Predator, it could be about the rumour of a sequel to Prey which Badlands ain't
tomsmoviemadness 4,735 Posted January 11, 2025 Posted January 11, 2025 Head of 20 Century Studios said last year, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, that there are no plans for anymore Kingsman films.
Jay 45,565 Posted January 11, 2025 Author Posted January 11, 2025 Yeah, I remembered wrong. It was a third Kick-Ass movie that he secretly filmed https://collider.com/matthew-vaughn-secret-movie-sam-rockwell/

I'm curious though if they might have sell the right to Universal since Argylle was distributed by Universal and is clearly in the Kingsman universe
Naïve Old Fart 12,786 Posted January 11, 2025 Posted January 11, 2025 I guess I'm interested in seeing a lot of films that haven't opened in the UK, yet: NOSFERATU (I know; that one's already out), EMILIA PÉREZ, THE BRUTALIST, A COMPLETE UNKNOWN, THE OUTRUN ((that one's out as well, but not where I stay). Out of the big hitters, only SUPERMAN, and M:I FINAL RECKONING hold any attraction for me.
Jay 45,565 Posted January 16, 2025 Author Posted January 16, 2025 Wolf Man seems to be getting mixed reviews. A lot of mediocre ones, but then this guy loved it https://www.comingsoon.net/movies/reviews/1904542-wolf-man-review-an-edge-of-your-seat-thrill-ride-for-the-ages
Gustavo Joseph 61 Posted January 17, 2025 Posted January 17, 2025 Just saw Wolf Man, and had a really good time. Few characters, a lot of mood, good pacing, almost zero CGI, simple story. Good score by Wallfisch. Jay 1
crocodile 9,583 Posted February 15, 2025 Posted February 15, 2025 Watched new Captain America this morning/afternoon. It wasn't too terrible or anything, just quite unremarkable. A lot of the plot points you can see coming. Fortunately, both Mackie and Ford are very likeable. It would have been a decent Disney+ special but can't see it as a major tentpole. Karol
Jill Sandwich 10,905 Posted February 23, 2025 Posted February 23, 2025 The Gorge Starts off in familiar territory to that Passengers movie from a few years ago, before it becomes like a Resident Evil co-op game.

Bellosh 4,522 Posted March 1, 2025 Posted March 1, 2025 Loved it. It just throws you in and you go with it. Spoiler Even though there's no backstory to the monkey It's really funny too. Not too scary in the sense of horror but it keeps you in suspense. It's not long either which is great. Only read this next spoiler if you've seen it: Spoiler The ending where the monkey drums really fast and a lot of people die makes for some interesting take on its power. There's a bit of cosmic horror to it as well. Also the quick cut to the uncles funeral was one of the funniest cuts I've ever seen in a movie.
Jill Sandwich 10,905 Posted March 1, 2025 Posted March 1, 2025 I watched The Monkey last weekend and thought it was okayish. I think I preferred Longlegs.
Jim 6,258 Posted March 1, 2025 Posted March 1, 2025 There's no need for me to bother with The Monkey as I already saw the trailer. Jill Sandwich 10,905 Posted March 1, 2025 Posted March 1, 2025 I thought they were kinda cute together

Jill Sandwich 10,905 Posted March 1, 2025 Posted March 1, 2025 I only watch all this shit in order to boost my number on Letterboxd. Edmilson and Davis 2
Jill Sandwich 10,905 Posted March 1, 2025 Posted March 1, 2025 Or just general dorkiness. No brain disease involved
Jim 6,258 Posted March 1, 2025 Posted March 1, 2025 Loads went undiagnosed in your day to be fair, you wouldn't necessarily know.

Jill Sandwich 10,905 Posted March 1, 2025 Posted March 1, 2025 I don't even think it's real. Lots of people have an enthusiasm for something. Doesn't need a diagnosis from a doctor. Davis 1
Jim 6,258 Posted March 1, 2025 Posted March 1, 2025 Yeah I am aware that you think some things. 9 minutes ago, Davis said: The Cleaner? That guy's wise. Davis 1
Jill Sandwich 10,905 Posted March 1, 2025 Posted March 1, 2025 So everyone with an enthusiasm for obscure things must have something wrong with their brain. Sounds Orwellian. Davis 1
Jill Sandwich 10,905 Posted March 1, 2025 Posted March 1, 2025 Helps me remember things, because my memory is pretty shoddy.
Davis 3,957 Posted March 1, 2025 Posted March 1, 2025 So no one has seen The Cleaner? Is it really a female version of DIE HARD with Teethy Ridley?

I used an app called Notes to quickly jot titles down, but it's a bit of a mess. Does help me to remember though. I've been meaning to set up that Letterboxd thing you mentioned.

Also there is an excellent quiz show called GENIUS on one of the channels here in Hungary every Saturday that I watch and play along. I also love to play chess.
Davis 3,957 Posted March 2, 2025 Posted March 2, 2025 3 hours ago, A24 said: A $70 million B-movie. Is it worth watching, though?
Jim 6,258 Posted March 2, 2025 Posted March 2, 2025 It has an interesting sci-fi premise, and those parts are pretty good. But there's a hell of a lot of downtime in between and it is Netflix level boy meets girl crap.
