Anyone else here autistic, or similarly neurodivergent?

I was "diagnosed" in early 2020, my tests occuring days before the first lockdown.

DSM5 in 2013 removed the standard classifications "Asperspers, PDD NOS etc.

I'm defo not Asperger's though.

I haven't seen a thread about this subject. Which is interesting in regards to filmscores, i think.

Political discussions are not allowed, please!

They tried to diagnose me at boarding school about 20 years ago, but that turned out to be an attempt to just try and keep me there so they wouldn't lose funding. I recently got worried and did some tests, none of which were helpful in the slightest: 'well, that answer might mean you have it, but THIS answer means you totally don't have it.' I personally don't recognise any of the recurring traits in myself.

I broached the topic in another thread recently, in an attempt of  humour, but was shot down.

"Not that there's anything wrong with it", as they say in Seinfeld, but I've never met more people on the spectrum than I have in the film music world over the years. Nothing strange with that. Niches tend to attract people with autism.

Whether you're on the spectrum or not, I think we all have some of it in us. You don't have to have fullblown Aspberger's.

Sometimes I think that I may fall somewhere on the autism spectrum, then I recall that I just hate people and that I'm just very, very snobbish.

I reckon this Asperger thing might be a medical scam. Some people might just be dorky and maybe a little withdrawn, but then medical authorities come along and have to pathologise it for reasons unknown. And the dorks dive on it because they love being labelled since they're usually obsessed with organisation and order anyway, and it explains to normies like they're five because they love labels and pigeon holes, too.

I definitely have a few traits but I don't match everything that websites list as autistic signs. OTOH, a friend and an acquaintance both officially have it so I'm in good company with the traits I do have.

The first time a psychologist suggested the possibility of ASS to me. (ASD in English, because well ..ass) I rolled my eyes at it

In my case it did fit. But it took a while to realise it.

Any diagnosis of any kind is only ever useful if it hits near the mark anyway.

There are legitimate disturbing cases of Autism involving a lot of shrieking and analyzing film music to hear background noises from Jumanji. I've seen it. There are degrees to this sort of thing. Stefan doesn't strike me as that type. He just puts around a depressing European village delivering the mail and on his off days complaining about, well, me and Drax on some outdated irrelevant message board. He was also "diagnosed" at a time when everyone was losing their mind. I don't believe him, nor do I think these diagnoses amount to much except creating a sort of victim complex and fueling the pharmaceutical industry, prescribing medically unproven products.

Simply liking things that are a little bit obscure means you have the autism disease. Normies only like things that are astroturfed for them by popular people – be like them, instead.

I say that I can't be gay, snob, fabulous, AND aspargus.

There are three accuracies and one lie.

Most of the diagnosed are perfectly well adjusted people.

Well, except for those who post in the Custom Covers thread.

Does color-coding one's sock drawer qualify?

If it upsets and gnaws at you when your socks aren't separated by colour, then you might have OCD.

I only wear grey socks.

Then it becomes dividing by shade... You can't have your battleship grey socks mixed with your stone grey, etc.

I only have one type and shade of sock I've settled on for years now.

Is this Autism? Or is it just consistency.

Or plain lack of taste?

I just have black, loose-fitting diabetic socks for ease of slipping my wide hobbit feet in. And, I'm not a sock fashionista like Justin Trudeau.
