Popular Post Naïve Old Fart 12,475 Posted March 29, 2025 Popular Post Posted March 29, 2025 Ok. Let's serious for a minute. A couple of years ago, I had a birthday with a "0" in it. At that time, I felt a great sense of achievement, first that I'd made it that far, and second because somehow it allowed me to think what I think, and to do what I do. I had permission to be me. The downside of that is, that I have been thinking about my own mortality ever since. I reckon that I have around 10 more years before I shuffle off this mortal coil, maybe a bit less. I'm grateful for every experience I've had (even the ones I didn't like), and I've learned to assimilate them into "my life", and to look back and to create some sort of cohesive whole. Most of it makes sense, and some of it doesn't, but that doesn't really matter. What matters is, I've enjoyed myself. As to "will I ever hear expanded Star Wars Prequel soundtracks", the honest answer is: "I don't know, and I don't know who will ". I'm not going to say: "I don't care", because I do. I want to hear the complete scores, but if I don't, then I don't. What I do know, is that I am grateful for what there is, out there, expanded or not. The question asked in this thread, I leave for a younger generation, one that will have a true chance to appreciate the expanded releases, if they happen. At this time, I'm more than happy with what I have. Pieter Boelen, ThePenitentMan1, Once and 8 others 9 2

Oh jeez, there is not enough reactions to give to this, you good sir are not naive, well maybe an old fart but still, have absolutely nailed it on the head. Certainly hope you stick around much more than 10 years. And like you said I too want to hear the complete PT scores, but very much if I don't, well then I don't, and while that may suck it's just how things go, the crazy thing about life is you don't always get what you want, but making do with what you get is what it's about Mr. Hooper, ThePenitentMan1, Naïve Old Fart and 2 others 5
GerateWohl 6,359 Posted March 29, 2025 Posted March 29, 2025 I just say, if I could or had to chose between experiencing a future with all the complete score expansions available or actually experiencing the thrill of the original movies coming out from the 70s, first time movie experieces, Williams' music changing the world of movie scores etc. I would always chose the latter one, again.

Popular Post Naïve Old Fart 12,475 Posted March 29, 2025 Popular Post Posted March 29, 2025 I guess that everyone is entitled to their opinion, including kingtolkien. I'm comfortable discussing my own mortality (ffi, see my post, above), but some people may not be. There are those who do not want to think about death and dying, and that's fine. My guess is that kingtolkien is a younger JWfan, or that perhaps he/she has had an adverse reaction to a death experience and finds the subject painful to talk about, but if I'm wrong, I'm wrong. As to erasing it? Sorry, but that's not gonna happen. Everyone at JWfan has an absolute right to air their opinions, as long as forum rules are not broken. At this time, I can't see any rules broken. I suggest that anyone who finds this thread disturbing, inappropriate, or otherwise unpalatable, to simply ignore it. Mr. Hooper, Ricard and Andy 2 1

Jilal 662 Posted March 29, 2025 Posted March 29, 2025 It's about time we assembled a team to raid whatever building the complete recording sessions are located at, à la M:I or Ocean's 11. If only to make sure @King Mark and @Naïve Old Fart get the chance to hear them.
Naïve Old Fart 12,475 Posted March 29, 2025 Posted March 29, 2025 Thank you, @Darth Crossfader, that's sweet! Obviously, if it's M:I, then I'm Tom Cruise, and if it's OCEAN'S 11, then I'm George Clooney
Richard P 5,060 Posted March 29, 2025 Posted March 29, 2025 If it's a lack of interest on Disney's part (i.e. soundtrack fans are such a small part of their business interests) then I don't see how that changes. What event or 'thing' makes them suddenly decide to hire someone to do expansions, instead of spending 50p on the next OST repackage? It's not like expanding the prequels is any trickier than the average digitally-recorded score from that era - just some editing and mastering needed.

eitam 404 Posted March 29, 2025 Posted March 29, 2025 At this point the apocalypse seems like a safer bet than an official expansion of the prequels. Oh well. I'm more interested in an expansion of the sequels anyway. GerateWohl 1

GerateWohl 6,359 Posted March 29, 2025 Posted March 29, 2025 Probably there should be just two vote options: What is more depressing? 1. Consciousness of inevitable death 2. Waiting for expansions of the Star Wars prequels
Richard P 5,060 Posted March 29, 2025 Posted March 29, 2025 The pathetic thing with RotS in particular is that there's only one bit of one cue that I need to make my playlist sfx-free (the transition from the funeral to Vader). If a disorganised session dump appeared on streaming tomorrow, that's all I'd need. I think those with the bigger potential disappointments are those who need the deluxe presentation, packaging, hours of alternates, etc. That sort of release is either not gonna happen to the required standard or completely priced out of any market if Disney is in charge and doesn't allow a good producer near it.
Luke Skywalker 2,289 Posted March 29, 2025 Posted March 29, 2025 Cant an AI remove that fracking v-wing/TIE fighter swooosh?
Richard P 5,060 Posted March 29, 2025 Posted March 29, 2025 I'm not aware of a model that can remove general effects, but I've had some success lately with focusing on one instrument (i.e. strings, drums, piano, guitar), so you could in theory make a load of stems and rebuild the mix, but it does depend on there being a model for each instrument in that section.
Popular Post Andy 6,862 Posted March 29, 2025 Popular Post Posted March 29, 2025 I’m probably the same age as King Mark. I grew up remembering the time before Star Wars. To our younger members, there’s no words to describe the magic of what it was like being a kid between 1977-80. When there was one Star Wars movie without an episode number. And the copycats turned up in droves on televisions, toy shelves, and movie theaters. Hell John Barry managed to score StarCrash, Black Hole, AND Moonraker in that time. Everybody was Star Wars BONKERS. What @GerateWohl referenced, experiencing it for the first time, can never be duplicated. The last expansion that really blew me away was the 1994 box. The 97 editions a little less. The TPM Ultimate a little less. Then I got Star Wars crazy again in my disposable income years. I listened to the expansions to death. I collected all the fan edits. And then the Sequels offered a little more of that. I guess my point is I have so much Star Wars music and I’ve listened to it so much, that it takes a real focus and the right day for it to truly thrill me again. So many years and so much collecting of SW music has made it feel a bit diluted. I don’t mean to disparage it, because it’s still my favorite thing. I feel like the fans have done a remarkable job with their edits, that I can now focus on other music. And those nearly complete listening experiences are always there for me. If I get the urge for listening to Star Wars, I have plenty of options. Right now I’m having plenty of fun with other scores, that admittedly aren’t as good, but are new and fresh to me.
