Apparently Shwn Levy's Star Wars movie is not dead - and Ryan Gosling & Jodie Comer are rumored to star!

Wait, it's Ryan GOSLING and not REYNOLDS? Wasn't Shawn Levy Reynolds' favorite pet director?

I wouldn't be able to take Ryan Reynolds seriously in a Star Wars movie

In the case of star wars, i think she took the right choice. One cannot wait 10 years for a film being made (if)

Apparently a title for a SW film releasing in 2027 was revealed at SW Celebration Japan:

Star Wars: Starfighter

Also the title of a video game that game out after Episode I.

A Shawn Levy Star Wars movie.

I have as much interest and hype for it as I have for watching the paint go dry. How the mighty have fallen.

At least they didn't announce the Waititi movie though. Hopefully it'll be cancelled.

Seriously, though, kinda feels like this'll happen. Shawn Levy plays nice with studios and is on a roll as a crowdpleaser if nothing else, and these initial announcements never have stars as big as Gosling already committed unless it's a returning vet. Also considering it's post-Rise of Skywalker in the timeline then maybe there's less of an inclination to get all weird about it and they just feel free to make a space movie, however it turns out.

Kathy Kennedy must be desperate. Why not bring in Margot Robbie and make a Barbie: A Star Wars Story movie?

Lucasfilm’s motto: Absolutely out of ideas, so why not?

Let me guess: there's a new death star named Starfighter, even bigger than before...

I think in their infinite wisdom they named Gosling’s character Starfighter, because Starkiller -> Skywalker so Starkiller -> Starfighter. Get it? Soo witty they are. 🤦🏻‍♂️

I thought this would be an adaptation of the 2001 video game with that title.

Hmm... a Star Wars / Last Starfighter crossover?

Would probably be a better film.  A Legacy Sequel too.  I’m sure they could get the original actors still with us.

I just ordered the expanded soundtrack of The Last Starfighter after it recently came back in stock at Intrada. How do you rate it?

9.5/10.

It’s an absolute joy.  Compositionally, it isn’t complicated. But it’s infectious and just pulls you in immediately.  The sound quality is cracking good.

I love Star Wars ripoffs and this is one of the best, with one of the best scores.

So I should seek out the film? I thought it wasn't all that.

It is. It’s corny and harmless but entertaining and endearing.

So you ordered

Star Trek III

Star Trek V

Last Starfighter

You got some good stuff coming your way. These are some of my all time favorites.  Any others like this?

Director Nick Castle (who played Michael Meyers in the original Halloween) is a big softie.

Deceptive facade. He's a murderer.

Star Wars: Starfighter Is Title of Ryan Gosling, Shawn Levy Movie

Ryan Gosling is starring, the film takes place 5 years after The Rise of Skywalker.

Is there actual footage in this "teaser"?

I've seen a Star Wars fighter-related teaser before.

With a director in person no less!

That ended up going the way of the dodo too.

So it seems the other x-wing film has been cancelled for sure.

It had to pull out.

100% agree. It’s one of my favorite films of all time, a childhood classic, with a wonderful score. It was a great honour and a dream come true to interview Craig Safan and discuss TLS.

Bizarrely, since I'm more or less the right age, I've never seen THE LAST STARFIGHTER. But I own the score. Thanks for the mini review, Andy.

I'd like to see Glen Powell in Star Wars. I actually think he'd be a good fit.

It's not because you won an Oscar that you're guaranteed a long and prosperous career, so I understand her wanting to choose her next project carefully.

But it still might not work out, and she may regret not accepting a juicy payday (I'm assuming) for 'Starfighter.'
