Interesting. The Intrada album is the ultimate release in my opinion. I’m curious to hear this new version.

Well I suppose there’s no way a new mix was done if there wasn’t intention for improvement.  Hopefully it’s not a Demaster situation.  If there was involvement from Mike M, it would be great to know. It would also be nice to get a physical release.

Listening to the single and looking at its waveform & spectrogram indicates this is pretty much the same mix as the 2015 release but with a different mastering (lower compression, more treble, less hiss):

 

 

 

So I guess this new master was also done by Mike Matessino and we'll get a CD reissue, just like the first two Jurassic Park scores!

I'm a bit confused. Don't get me wrong, it's another great way to commerate the 50th anniversary, but I thought the 2-CD 45th anniversary restoration commemorating the 40th anniversary was definitive. Did Mike Matessino do this too? Why a digital and 2-LP vinyl release? If Mike Matessino did this, I hope this gets a 2-CD release with the remastered OST, alternates and source music.

Don’t you think it was unusual timing that Intrada sold off a batch of their 2CD earlier this year?  I’m confident now that was an effort to get one last batch sold before a new edition came out.

I do hope that if they do a special release we can have both film versions. Even though it’s technically a mis-take I like the take used in every home release from the DVD all the way thru 4K, similar to the Journey to the Island film take.

Umm, ok cool, obviously always glad to see JW’s scores getting love - and this score especially. It was one of the first one I bought back in the 90s.
 

I’ll buy it, of course, if there’s a CD release, but I also feel a little fatigued by re-re-releases.

No, on the Anthology, the OST of Jaws is used, not the score.

The anthology contains the 1975 OST album tracklist, so if so that'd account for 39 of the 54 tracks from the 2015 Intrada album.

Just to make sure, you know that the Jaws OST is a re-recording.

I just don't have a CD player aside from in my car. I've only opened a handful of releases including Godzilla, The Patriot, Episode One Ultimate Edition, Hook, Licence to Kill and The Legend of JW. All the usual suspects.

Yes, indeed, I had the privilege of revisiting John Williams' indelible JAWS music for a ground-up high resolution restoration and remastering for the 50th anniversary. Brand new presentation of the main score drops digitally on June 20 from Back Lot Music, with lots more news to come. 🦈

It's nice to see scores given deserved treatment, but how many remasterings does one score need - isn't there a point where a score has been remastered using the best restoration tech and is definitive? It's a bit of an alien world to me, likely in part because a good number of my grails have digital sessions and don't need the same archival work. I can't imagine having bought (for example) Gladiator, then 5-10 years later someone does another version that sounds slightly better.
