The new 2-Disc soundtrack will include over an hour's worth of new music bringing the total track number from five tracks to seven! That's funny! Yavar Moradi, Ollie, Stark and 2 others 2 3

Smaug The Iron 717 Posted September 29 Posted September 29 Never heard this score before (or seen the film) will listen to the OST later this week to see if it is something to me. What other kind of Zimmer scores is this related to in terms of style?

Stark 764 Posted September 29 Posted September 29 Excellent to see this, even though I think the OST fared best of the Zimmer 90's suite OSTs
Edmilson 11,013 Posted September 29 Posted September 29 I've never been "into" this score that much, I think I listened to the OST (with its 15-20 minute long tracks) once... Hopefully the expanded edition will change my mind.
bollemanneke 4,139 Posted September 29 Posted September 29 Only know the Roll Tide hymn because someone sent it to me back in secondary school. Great news that another proper Zimmer expansion is coming up.

Smaug The Iron 717 Posted October 4 Posted October 4 Well I listened to the OST twice now and I like it, will probably buy this one. I am gonna see the film today as well.

Mutiny was 3 cues, Alabama was 4 cues (but yeah that one was a bit exagerated !), Little Ducks, 1SQ & Roll Tide were 1 cue each (yes, 1SQ is one 18 min cue lol). Fear not, I didn't go extreme lol. I did where it made sense. Ravi Krishna, Stark, pete and 4 others 5 1 1

The hymn of the Royal Navy and the US Navy (hence why it’s used in Crimson Tide)? If so, please don’t call it Roll Tide, if only because it isn’t.
Jay 43,956 Posted October 5 Posted October 5 The OST album had a track called Roll Tide, that contained the end credits cue, which includes EF,STS as part of it.

shockwaveprime 5 Posted October 6 Posted October 6 I saw the movie again on YouTube back in July. There are 17 music tracks heard in the movie. I can only imagine the alternate tracks, and the album versions to this score. Looking so forward to this expanded release. Tallguy 1

Popular Post Jay 43,956 Posted October 6 Popular Post Posted October 6 https://store.intrada.com/s.nl/it.A/id.13247/.f CRIMSON TIDE (2CD) Hans Zimmer Label: Intrada Special Collection Volume ISC 528 Film Date: 1995 Album Date: 2025 Time: 104:58 Tracks: 16 STARTS SHIPPING OCT 14 Price: $31.99 Intrada announces the 30th anniversary, two-CD set of Hans Zimmer's score for the 1995 political-action thriller Crimson Tide. Zimmer was truly flying high in his career by the mid-1990s. He had successfully made the jump from London to Hollywood and had just won an Academy Award® for his score for The Lion King (1994). His sound was going through an evolution during the late 1980s and early 1990s, and it was on Backdraft (1991) that Zimmer fully embraced meshing an orchestra with his trademark synthesizers. It was also the start of the “power anthem” for which Zimmer would become known. Crimson Tide marks the full maturing of this style that would continue to be heard most notably in The Rock (1996) and The Peacemaker (1997). Zimmer won a GRAMMY® for Best Instrumental Composition Written for a Motion Picture or for Television for Crimson Tide. The main theme of Crimson Tide is a signature power anthem that embodies heroism and bravura, and in this expanded presentation of the score one can fully appreciate how it’s used throughout the narrative. The score is a master class in tension building. Zimmer utilizes atmospheric sounds to build a sonic tomb around the characters. Sounds resembling sonar, metallic colors and puffing woodwinds create sustained tension that slowly rises. This new release features the complete 88-minute score, adding nearly a half hour of music to the program originally released on Hollywood Records. The extras include a demo of a short suite Zimmer and collaborator Steve Mazzaro prepared in 2014 to be performed live in concert. The Hollywood Pictures film is a tense military thriller directed by Tony Scott and starring Denzel Washington and Gene Hackman, taking place almost entirely aboard a U.S. nuclear submarine. When communications with command are cut off during a potential nuclear crisis with Russia, the seasoned captain (Hackman) and his principled executive officer (Washington) clash over whether to launch nuclear missiles based on incomplete orders. Their escalating power struggle becomes a battle of wills. CD 1 THE SCORE 01. Main Title* – News Report (4:43) 02. Briefing And Goodbyes – Roll Tide (7:33) 03. Little Ducks§ (2:04) 04. Quppa 362 Posted October 7 Posted October 7 The Intrada description doesn't mention anything about new mastering, liner notes or art direction - is this a relatively bare bones release in that respect, or is it just an oversight?
Popular Post Stéphane Humez 808 Posted October 7 Popular Post Posted October 7 Kay did the art like most Intrada albums. My dear Maxime (who I make suffer sometimes) handled the mastering, and Kaya wrote the liners. We had a chat with Hans to dive into the making of that score. 😀 Quppa, Trope, Jay and 4 others 5 2

pete 1,257 Posted October 7 Posted October 7 The movie came out in 1995? No way! So if true, it's been 30 years since I saw it. I just noticed it's on Disney Plus... I think I'll watch it again tonight - for the first time this century! And I had no idea Aragorn was in it. From memory, there were just two peope in it: Denzel and Gene.

Brand new presentation, I didn't even try to compete with the "60 min in 5 tracks" from the original album. 🙃 We also had a cool interview with Hans, conducted by Kaya, going through the concepts & making of the score.
