And the new Batman is.....

According to industry insiders, Christian Bale has nabbed the part of Batman in the new Chritopher Nolan (memento) directed feature. "He has exactly the right balance of darkness and light that we were looking for". Tell me, is it the right sort of dark countouring around that perfectly muscled light body of his that they might be refering to? The film will begin production early next year and will follow a younger Dark Knight on his freshman adventures... Or is it his adventures on a dark night that we will be following?! With Bale's previous indie hits and Nolan's directing style it's anyones guess which direction this movie will take... My money is on the fact that it'll be at least a fresh, interesting and different take on an already stale franchise. Inquiring minds are already spinning with possibilities......

As soon as Batman said to Chase "Bats aren't rodents doctor" I knew the franchise was going downhill.

There is a place for bat-quotes like that, and childish humor...it's in the old Batman series...there it worked because the whole thing was campy...but not in a Batman movie. I seriously could go on and on about everything wrong with the last two Batman movies.

Michael Keaton was the best in my opinion...he wasn't the playboy type...but he was wonderfully dark, and he also had a funny side that made him more human. Kilmer seemed way too dull to me...almost like he wasn't human at all. Clooney would have been alright...I guess...maybe not. All in all I blame the demise of the Batman franchise on Schulmaker.

The mood of Gotham is wrong (wtf is with all of the techno raves?). The mood of the movies are wrong. They take wonderfully seasoned actors...and give them horrible lines (Jones as twoface)...everything that guy said was a horrible joke. They added Carrey...who was too freakin over the top.

Aren't you supposed to fear villians a little? And it's too easy to go after the billions of mistakes with Batman and Robin...so I won't. The first two Batman movies had their mistakes...but in comparison...it's like...well...one of Two-Faces horrible lines in Batman Forever...Wine and roses to...beer and pizza.

That's why I thought Mystery Men was such a scream. It took the perfect approach in satiring the goofy, brooding film noir look of the newer franchise (as well as some great pot shots at theme-based heroes and villains).

In my opinion, they have yet to find a good Batman. I've always felt a total newcomer would've served the films better, someone who looked more like the Bruce Wayne of the comics.

Who's scoring the next Batman? It should be Silvestri if Elfman doesn't do it. I'd like to hear him score a superhero flick. I know Silvestri's doing Van Helsing, but thats more of an action/adventure flick than anything. But I think Elfman should return to the Batman series if he's not too busy scoring Big Fish and Spider-Man.

Not Elfman please. Silvestri could be interesting. But I guess there's a good chance that Nolan will want to continue his collaboration with David Yulyan (sp?). His scores for Memento and Insomnia worked very well in the movies, even though they were hardly memorable (except that nice cue at the beginning of Insomnia) - but then memorability wasn't their point at all.

I find it hard to imagine what a Nolan Batman will be like, so it's hard for me to tell whether Nolan will be appropriate. Or perhaps they'll both drastically change their styles for this one.

Marian - who liked all three film Batmen, but very few of the movies.

No, Williams prefers the era when Love scenes left loads to the imagination and you just knew what was happening without seeing it, so I don't think he would ever want to see a bat-penis on screen, or any other type of penis for that matter.

So the composers of old liked to just, think about the love scenes in their head but the composers of today want to actually watch it.

QuestionMarkMan, the idea is when you don't see love scenes you score them. That gives the composer opportunity to write big love music.

I don't know about the composers of old, I just know what Williams has said previously in an interview....

Yeah well I can see what Williams mean, today's love scenes are often do and say much. In the old days it was just a kiss, and you used music to protray the romance, now that's much better for a composer. :D

Personally I think Pressumed Innocent is one of the best scored Love Scenes ever. The music frightening and almost tragic. :D

Justin -Who likes the movie Pressumed Innocent too.

I myself have no preference one way or the other. Well, it depends on who is in the sex scene. The last thing I want to see is Michael Douglas's flabby ass one more time. Please!!!! It's assulted my eyes way too much already... Now, if it's Mark Wahlberg's bubble butt... well, you get my drfit, it'll be the same with the women too... Doris Roberts in a love scene anyone????????????

couldn't be anyworse than Kathy Bates nude scene in About Schmidt.

Phaesent hunting???????????? Don't you mean peasant hunting? I love that bit in History of the World: Part 1. There won't be any sort of hunting here since these fires ranged all over th place. Not that I'm into sport hunting. I am thinking of taking up a bow and arrow though!!!
