New Book: A DREAM COME TRUE - Angelo Badalamenti and David Lynch

Every three years, something wonderful happens: I publish a book. (I am aware the world is burning, but one has to be grateful for the small things. What else do we have?)

 

On October 16, Bloomsbury will publish my latest non-fiction book, "A DREAM COME TRUE - The Collaboration of David Lynch and Angelo Badalamenti."

 

 

With this work, a collage that bridges the gap between academic analysis and investigative journalism, I celebrate one of the most fascinating working relationships between a film director and a composer.

 

The book analyses David Lynch the filmmaker through the lens of Angelo Badalamenti's music via extensive creative biographies of both, in-depth investigations into how the individual music pieces and scores came to be, how they were altered and changed during the editing process, and what clues both music and sound design can give to unlock the mysteries of individual works.

Of course I have to mention that in the end you mixed up The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.

 

In Tim Greiving's John Williams biography it is mentioned that Lynch refused the job for Jedi because he neither wanted to work with John Williams nor with Ben Burtt.

Crikey, I did indeed, didn't I? Hopefully I said it with enough connfidence to fool the audience into believing I'm right. That works most of the time.
