Perhaps this might make up for it

So, they bought the honor?

Like when Mark Zuckerberg had SF General Hospital named after him because he made a large donation?

Well, we don't know that, or whose proposal this was...but it takes money to make the signs and plaques and to put on the event, so that's probably where the donors came in.

Anne Akiko Meyers (...) one of the world's most esteemed and celebrated violinists. Renowned as a muse and champion of today's leading composers, she has commissioned, premiered, and recorded a significant body of contemporary violin repertoire.

The way I see it, Mrs. Akiko Meyers thought some cookies wouldn't cut it this time and decided to make a bigger investment... Can we start speculating about Violin Concerto N°3??

Now, we wait to see how Anne-Sophie Mutter will counter...

You beat me to that. Question is, is she correct in assuming that a stage trumps cookies?

The  Hollywood Bowl board of directors were strapped for cash and were considering ways  to raise money.

" I have an idea" announced one director,  "let's name the stage after John Williams"

After the laughter subsided he reiterated ," No, I'm serious. We will get tons of cash from Spielberg and other rich Hollywood Jews who love to have their  names on things. Maybe, even that tightwad George Lucas will chip in a few sheckles"

After a brief debate, the board approved his idea unanimously.

At their next meeting, the board of directors will consider naming the  bandshell  after Williams.

No names have been announced yet but one director , who asked for anonymity, indicated that John Williams is at the top of the list of candidates.

" We will milk that cow dry" he declared.

Those photos with J. P. Martin and Dreyfuss are so sad. One year was enough for such a decline in health. Has the stroke been confirmed yet?

It seems we can’t talk about that obvious and sad decline over just three years, it’s taboo here.

It’s really the policy of ‘Don’t ask, don’t tell.’

Of course, knowing that John Williams is composing the score for Spielberg’s next film made us very happy, but I can only imagine the immense energy it must demand of him, and I am deeply moved by that.

No one will censor me. Censorship can be just as pathetic as asking such things. So what?

More pointless than taboo.  What is the point of pointing out that he looks old and frail?  It is not going to change. It is the nature of being extremely elderly.

People who react each time they see an additional photograph are basically a living version of this:

Well, let me tell you yet another Charles Aznavour anecdote (you’ll probably say, “God, he’s going on about him again”), but here we are… I witnessed the aging and decline of an artist I deeply admired, and as you surely know, Aznavour did it all in public, remaining active right up to the very last minute.

In a 1994 concert, Aznavour spoke about his longtime friend and collaborator, and brother-in-law, since he had married his sister, Georges Garvarentz, who had passed away in 1993. Aznavour recounted how he had arranged for a piano to be delivered to Garvarentz’s hospital room in his final days, and I’m almost quoting him here: “Because composers are like poets, they want to express themselves until their very last breath...”

He then introduced the last piece Garvarentz had composed, titled “Inoubliable” (Who could forget you). That remark has always moved me deeply, and even now I can’t help but draw a parallel with John Williams, who, it seems, also wants to keep expressing himself endlessly...

One thing I learned from the JW bio: all his life he has had an  insatiable desire to learn more about music and to compose.

I think that is eternal

He's not gonna be able to conduct anymore and he can't even stand for very long, so that is an obvious decline from two years ago. Other than that he seems to be all there and in good spirits and he clearly still enjoys composing enough to write a movie score, which I really had my doubts he would still wanna do at this point...not because of his abilities but it seems like it'd be too tedious or trivial if he was really doing poorly. So I'm happy for him and feel pretty lucky as a fan of his.

I keep wondering do people actually say they're about to take the picture before they do or just take it, because he always looks like mid thought or not even looking at the camera not realizing. That, and he probably doesn't enjoy having his picture taken in the chair, because all the other pictures of him not like that, he looks better.

Though, J. P. Martin has more pronounced wrinkles than JW, and I assume she is younger than him.

Shockingly, she's 94.
